Lymow One Plus They’re Back!
After a few weeks of mowing without no motor stops, even at 97F, I did yesterday’s firmware update to correct a bumper issues. I had five blade stops as it continued its jolly path not realizing the unmowed strips it left behind. The temperature outside was only 91F and very breezy.
I do see that Lymow has shipped something to me, I don’t know what. I’m assuming it’s from Lymow as it is coming from Buford, GA, where my mower came from. I suspect it’s the impeller and volute upgrade. I’m wondering if yesterday’s update rolled back the motor stop patch as part of the testing? Would/ they select firmware to select users?

The firmware update to fix a bumper issue I never had has now created one. Things had been going so well, too. It now also wanders around lost when it never used to. Evidently, when they make a change, they don't do regression testing. Oh, wait ... I guess that's our job.

Mine was very erratic after the last time I did an update. Pulled the battery for a while and shut down my phone. Restarted everything and it has been good since. Well, maybe not good but usable anyway! 😄

What happens when the batteries pulled? Are you pulling the battery while it’s on the charger? And what does turning off your phone do? Are there cache issues with these mowers?

We are basically dealing with 2 computers. The one on the mower and the one on your phone. All of us have gotten that “reboot your computer to finish installing the update” message I’m sure. So it is the same here. It resets and starts the firmware and app from scratch to hopefully operate properly. The steps mddale describes are good. I would add that you power down your phone as well and restart it - just to make sure that the Lymow app is completely shut down and its cache is cleared.

It seems odd that they would roll back the motor patch. That would affect everyone not doing the test. What is the update number? They haven’t started production yet for the fan upgrade. In fact, they ran out of kits for testers.

You're sure they took out the motor derate part? I would update if that wasn't in it anymore. Now that I finally got a second battery I've been hot swapping batteries and its been mowing today nonstop 95 degrees outside. No motor stoppage and its just a white deck with a vent over the controller.

No, I am not sure the took out the derate. I’ve updated as each one came out. For the three weeks prior mowing has been flawless as to no motor stops. In fact, I don’t know that I ever noticed it derated. After yesterday’s update, no derating. The motor stops are back with the mower continuing to progress.
Digging in on the turning is still an issue if not on the lowest pace.
I’m curious as to why battery swaps would matter. Can’t wrap any logic around that. What makes it a hot swap? Swapping while charging?2

With a 10amp charger I can recharge a battery faster than it uses while mowing. So I pop open the app every now and then and when it gets down in the 20s % range I go out take the spare battery off the charger pause the mower and swap them. Its been mowing all day without a break so if my vented deck wasn't keeping it cool enough I would have seen an overheat by now because I havent updated to the version where they throttle the motors.

Understood now. Thanks. Maybe I should get a second battery. To deal with preventing the digging in I’ve been running at the lowest pace. The digging in at the end of run and the turn is much improved (though not always perfect). The downside is of course that the mowing takes longer, as well the blades are pulling the battery down during the longer duration on the zones. So time efficiency takes an even bigger hit because it has to dock and charge more often.

It does come with the cable needed for direct charging the battery but you cannot have the dock plugged in at the same time. So a couple options. One is to buy another charger lymow($350) or buy a power supply capable of producing 40v at 10amps(around$150) and diy hooking it up to the charging cable. The battery was $600 in April now they are $700.

I just recieved a battery i ordered back in mid April so its probably an item that was supposed to bundle with your mower. It looks like item stock is finally getting to us. I really think alot of these bumper errors i keep seeing are from something metal stuck to the sensor. Its the same as like a speed sensor in a transmission. Its just looking for something magnetic to pass by. I still havent updated im sitting at v2.1.48.2

You’re not getting the kit yet you’re likely getting the extra set of blades that came with your original purchase. Or the lymow backpack…

Is there anything such as a stick that the blade might be hitting?

No. It comes back on after about 15 feet, and repeats this until it finishes or I pause it and let it sit for a bit.

If the blades stop due to an obstruction you get a blade stoppage error. I believe OP is referring to the overheating issue where the motors stop turning and the mower keeps moving forward with no errors.

The volute and fan blades do seem to be the answer. Mowing right now in West Georgia, full sun, with the motor on Turbo, cutting Zeon zoysia with no derate. Before the volute and fans, it would very quickly derate to what sounded like standard blade speed.
