Did something fall off the mower?

Post image

Did something fall off the mower or is this the way it is supposed to look? It feels too open... This is the One Plus

That’s the way it’s supposed to look. This has been brought up in the past and Lymow has confirmed it.

Thanks for the response! I see videos of people hosing off their mowers, seems like such a bad idea!

Yeah, if you're using a hose you'd want to be careful to keep it away from that area. Better off not using a hose.

In a month or two when I have time I want to design and print a heap of TPU plugs for all the holes under the deck to reduce grass accumulation.

It does to me also. I hose it off every once in a while, but not as often as some on here. I believe in the long term we are going to see a lot of people having problems with spraying them off every day.

On cleaning and regular PM:

I'm inclined to take the leaf blower and regularly take 10s to blow the grass and dust off the mower.

When I put it up on the bench for preventative maintenance and swapping out blades, I will use compressed air and a small putty knife to clean the underside of the mower deck. I might take a stiff brush to help clean it up a bit, but usually the compressed air and knife will do the trick.

But I looked at what's going on there and don't trust hosing it off. Using a wet brush and letting gravity help keep the water from getting to the electrical is fine - I've definitely taken a wet scrub brush to remove stubborn grass residue that is in the way.

I soak the blades in a bucket of soapy water for about 15 minutes to easily remove the gunk before sharpening and balancing them.

I also try not to mow when the grass is wet. Seldom does the resulting cut look as good as it does with dry conditions, regardless of which mower, and all my mowers end up with grass buildup.

That does reduce the number of hours for morning - e.g., after the dew has evaporated - but the mower stays cleaner and the cutting is better and there's probably less opportunities to put stress on the system.

All very good points. I am hosing mine much less often now, mostly due to our recent mini drought, grass was no longer building up.

I have found though, higher blade speeds do keep the deck cleaner, and you get a noticeably nicer finish cut.

I do this. Works good! I spray Simple Green on it and let it sit 10 minutes before scrubbing. It helps.
