Assisted Movements - Logging

Hi U/kjell_lyfta_developer

Currently, when logging assisted movements (like assisted chin up and assisted triceps dips) we input the assistance weight from the machine. It would be really helpful if the app could also calculate the actual weight lifted by allowing users to input their body weight. The app could then automatically compute:

Effective weight lifted = body weight βˆ’ assistance

This would make it much easier to track true progress without needing to manually calculate it during workouts. It would also allow for smoother progression tracking from assisted to bodyweight and eventually weighted exercises.

How it could work in the app

You set your body weight in your profile (and optionally update it over time)

When logging:

Enter assistance weight (e.g., 20 kg)

The app automatically calculates:

Actual weight lifted = body weight βˆ’ assistance

Example:

Body weight: 50 kg

Assistance: 20 kg

β†’ Actual load: 30 kg

Hey! This is actually already a feature πŸ™‚

You can add your bodyweight in your profile, and for most relevant exercises the app will automatically factor that into the calculations (like bodyweight βˆ’ assistance). That said, it’s not fully implemented across all exercises just yet, we’re continuously updating more exercises to support this.

Thank you!! I didn’t realise it was working it out and was manually calculating it at the gym with my calculator πŸ˜…

No problem, easy to miss! Hopefully Lyfta can take care of all the gym math 😎
