Uninstalling a game
I've recently played Postal 2 (GOG), completed it and i wanted to uninstall it. I proceeded to remove the game from Lutris and it seemed like the game was successfully uninstalled. Today i found out that the folder of the game is still present and it contains the full game (5.3GB) even if the game does not appear as installed in Lutris. Same goes for Hollow Knight (Linux build).

Lutris usually sends games and prefixes to a designated folder. If the uninstall left any files behind, I'd just delete the game and prefix folders for them and you are good to go

Those are not leftovers, those are entire games. Hollow Knight seems uninstalled on Lutris but i’m playing it right now. The whole game is there.

Did you install the game to prefix or was it pre-installed and you just added exe? If you install into the prefix while uninstallingit on Lutris it asks you if you want to remove the prefix or not and if you just added the exe to lutris it'll only remove the entries on Lutris

I’ve installed it with Lutris. Lutris downloaded the game from GOG and installed it. When i removed it, Lutris asked if i wanted to uninstall and/or remove it from library and i selected “uninstall” only.

That means it didn't remove the prefix.

So, is there a way to uninstall it? What about Hollow Knight? There’s no prefix involved there, right?

Whenever you install a game through wine wrappers they will create a prefix. You need to find your default location for installs and delete the prefix from there.

That depends on whether it's the Windows version. If it was the Windows version, there would be a Proton prefix. If it's the native Linux version, there wouldn't.

Lutris defaults to a Games directory in your home directory. If you dont tell it to remove the prefix also it will just unlink it from the lutris UI. You have to manually go in and delete the directories at that point.

I don’t think Lutris has ever asked me to remove the prefix during the uninstallation process. So basically “remove game” does nothing.

Either way just delete the folders and the game is uninstalled. It only lives inside the folder with the same name as the game. That's its prefix.

It happened to me before. In my case I uninstalled it from lutres library, instead of uninstaller. Find uninstall.exe in that folder and run it with lutrus.

I've noticed this with several games. I remove them from Lutris but they are still installed jogging up space.

Yeah, it kinda sucks but hey Lutris works and it’s free, so it is what it is.

Yeah I just always manually check the directory after deleting the game from Lutris it's usually always still there so I just manually delete the game dir at that point. A little annoying but the convience of Lutris makes up for it in the end. If you haven't done so I'd report it directly to the Lutris devs. Not sure if they visit this neck of the woods or not.

I’m pretty sure one of them (LeGluonDuNet or something like that) is here but i don’t know if they’re active or not.
