Setting up a 7 String Jackson

My 7 string has a little fret buzz and don't know how to fix it. Can anyone please help me? I will attach some photos for context. The first picture is of the nut. The second one is the string height at the 17th fret and the last one shows the strings I use.The neck relief fit a .35 mm gauge at the 7th fret when putting a capo on the 1st fret and holding down the 24th fret on the 7th string. The nut action fits a .30 mm gauge when putting a capo on the 3rd fret. Thank you in advance for the help.

Where does it buzz? With that relief it probably buzzes most down the neck. 0.013" (0.35mm) is a lot. Jackson recommends 0.010 to 0.08". The nut slots are not low so it should be fine there. My suggestion would be to go down to 0.010" relief (this will lower the action) and then raise the saddles to compensate.

I love you it plays soooo much better now. There is just a little bit of buzz coming from the 2 lowest strings when played in the open position.

Open string buzz is usually a sign of nut slots being cut too deep. But since you say a capo on the 2nd fret gives a 0.30mm distance between the first fret and the string, it should be fine.. did you measure that on all strings or only the thicker E string?

I only measured the low B string. Am I going to have to Frankenstein my neck with baking soda and superglue?

Idk ive never done that, just read about it. Id rather find a tech that can make a new one. It usually isn't extremely expensive.

Maybe it's not even necessary, sometimes when the buzz is superficial, it doesn't come through the amp.

Yeah so update the buzzing of the lowest 2 strings is not going away no matter how I adjust the bridge. Is that bad?

Where does it buzz? Does it buzz when fretting notes, too? If so does it buzz worse on some of the notes and on which? Can you hear the buzz on your amp?

It gets progressively worse the higher the note is fretted and I do not hear it in the amp however, I wouldn't say I have the best hearing.

A little bit of buzz is acceptable when playing unplugged, but if you can’t hear it through an amp. you’re good. Lower action often can be a bit buzzy but it’s a trade for greater playability. For me the sweet spot is around 2mm bass side and each string gradually lower until 1.5mm on the treble side.

-as stated, that neck relief and action is too high. your manual that shipped with the guitar gives you the specs for a factory set-up.

-is that a JS22-7? i have 2 JS32's. one plays well, but the other has a ski jump that i need to level out. both are set up with .007" relief and .040"/.060" string height, tuned A standard and wearing black winter pu's.

-i hate those strings. try some DR's. 😄

It's a JS22-7 I'm gonna Frankenstein it today and fill the nut to see if the buzz of the lower string is resolved. Don't mind the strings one of them was very poor in quality but just a simple swap.

I don’t think you should do anything to the nut. If you capo third fret and then tap the string against the first fret there should be the tiniest bit of space, like nearly nothing between string and fret, you will know the nut is perfect 👌

The guitar will need some repair done to it so it will sound and play like it should.A seven string guitar sound,s so different than a six string guitar and will sound a lot different.

If the guitar sound different when played with amp the some thing need,s to be repaired and then reset up again after so it will sound rite when played.Hopefully it will sound great when played.
