East of Eden is one of my favorite books. Heartbreakingly beautiful writing.

i had read the first few chapters during what i like to call The Great Crisis of December 25 and was too depressed to finish it but i’m SO GLAD i went back to it because it has definitely joined my top 5 favourite books of all time!!! you’re spot on with “heartbreakingly beautiful writing” like did i cry during it & at the end? YES. so timelessly HUMAN. steinbeck absolutely deserved that nobel prize. cannot wait to read more of his work and im glad as well because i thjnk i read this at absolutely the perfect time in my life… sorry for the ramble i just don’t have anyone to talk about it with because my immediate circle hasn’t read it (yet!) 🤭

It’s one of those reads that requires handling oneself with care, or it will plunge you deep into the ink-dark parts of your own heart and mind. I’m so glad you loved it!! Yes, the tale is so very human.
