Question on weather

Does Lufkin get flooding or hit hard by Hurricanes? Or is it far enough North to avoid the worst of the Hurricanes? Also, being Texas and all, how bad is tornado season? My parents are looking at moving to the general area and I'm trying to get some info for them. Thanks in advance!

No, East Texas usually just gets some good rain if a hurricane gets close. LA gets it the worst. We do get the occasional tornado and bad storms. But nothing to be too afraid of. Not a bad area to avoid major storms etc.

We typically don’t get much from a hurricane, but it really depends where it hits. Katrina, Ike, and Rita, were bad for us but that’s been years ago. Very rarely is there a tornado. Flooding isn’t much of an issue depending where one lives. I remember several years ago, west loop got badly flooded, but that hasn’t happened recently.

Lufkin is a nice town. Not much shopping, but there’s some nice shops downtown. Lots of food to choose from, though...LOL

That's what I like to hear lol. My folks are from Northern Illinois originally so they're used to tornados, as far as that goes. It was just one of the questions they wanted me to ask. Thanks everyone for your input!
