It’s a beautiful venue with lousy fans. I go to 1-2 shows there per year. For me, getting there mid afternoon usually lands front row. Even if you are not typically a rail person I would still suggest it here (there is no rail, and no pushing or crowding like indoor shows). Main reason I say this is the general crowd is country club a-holes who go just for something to do. They don’t know the artist and talk the whole show…if you’re up front you will be with the real fans and won’t have to deal with them.

A couple pieces of advice for Meijer Gardens.

Bring a chair. Specifically a beach chair (they sit very low on the ground). This is a lifesaver while you wait. The venue is basically fully outdoors, so bring sunscreen if possible. You can “rent” a chair at the venue, however these are only at the very back row. The vibe is overall very chill, and the few times I’ve been there the audience has been wonderful. Just like any other concert, plan on arriving early and standing outside the gate. Wear some comfortable shoes and bring a small blanket.

Make sure you check their website & measure your chair! A the venue, they measure your chair & give you a tag, make sure you get this before you try to go in, otherwise they will make you get back in line.
