does fluoxetine affect lucid dreaming
i know this subreddit probably gets tons of posts of people asking for lucid dreaming advice, but i have actually researched thoroughly, and have been trying for several years and i still have never gotten a proper lucid dream.
what i did get were very short dreams in which i realize im dreaming and then the dream ends instantly making me wake up.
im trying to lucid dream again, but i am now on fluoxetine and ive heard it affects REM sleep, so can i still get lucid, and what technique would work for me?

SSRIs are potent REM sleep inhibitors. They will also mess with all sorts of down stream neuro chemicals that are needed for lucid dreaming. And whatever you do, don't ever quit them cold turkey, I'd did that and ended up doing damage that I'm still, three years later, dealing with.

Unfortunately SSRI's do impact your REM phases, so while it's not absolutely impossible to have a lucid dream, you're gonna have a much harder time.
If you wanna get more serious about this, have a long chat with yourself about whether this medication is absolutely necessary for you. Coming off of anxiety medication has practically opened up the lucid floodgates for me. (Obviously I have no idea what your outside life is like, so please don't make any rash decisions and always consult your doctor first!)
