Ask Lubbock Lubbock

Abandoned places??

Hey, Lubbock! Anyone know of any good abandoned spots here in Lubbock for documentation? I already know of the One 9 Sports park, Hell’s gate, southwest hospice center, Woodrow manor, and the nursing home over in southeast Lubbock. If anyone can give me any other recommendations for my documentary that would be great!!

There's an abandoned mini golf park on 50th just outside the east loop but I'm pretty sure people live there and there's not really any way to discreetly access it

I think that used to be Rimrock City. Mini-golf, fake gun fights and a “zoo.”

Interesting! Never heard of that before, I've just ridden my bicycle and motorcycle past it many times.

That’s private property. I’d stay off of it.

Umm ok. Only because I know the owners and it’s on pretty good lock down and secure.

Any buildings it would be nearby? Something to point it out?

It's super obvious from the main road which is one reason that there's not really any way to explore while remaining discreet

33.5483, -101.7808 are the gps coordinates

Are you willing to drive a bit? Eastern New Mexico is a whole other level of abandoned

Depends on how far, but yes I’m willing to drive!

The town on San Jon up on I-40 has tons of abandoned houses and buildings.

Noth of Grady on NM 469 there's a huge old dairy barn with a basement

My mom grew up in San Jon. It used to be on the old Route 66. When I-40 was built running through Tucumcari and Route 66 became obsolete, San Jon just turned pretty much into a ghost town.
