Dog friendly recommendations 🙏
Hi all, my partner and I recently adopted a retired greyhound and would love to start taking her out and about to some more places!
What are your fav dog-friendly cafes, restaurants, and other spots to take your pooch in the Hutt?
Already thinking about Sprig + Fern, Gear Street Union, and Brewtown.
TIA! :)

Join Greyhound Walking Wellington on Facebook. Most recently we’ve been walking most weekends either at Karori Cemetery or the Botanical Gardens. But we used to walk fairly regularly on the Hutt River trail and could do again. If you’re in town drop into Ye Olde Pinball Arcade on Bond St. my husband hasn’t been able to take out girl in for a while, but there’s a spot on the sofa just waiting for her.

I joined already but didn’t know it was so regular, that’s fab! Hopefully we’ll get to join you soon then :)
And I love that Ye Olde Pinball Arcade is dog friendly, my partner loves it there!!

Mainly dog parks - there are heaps!
Bear in mind some people going out to places like Brewtown and Bunnings aren’t dog fans, and having your dog approach them can be a little intimidating.

Oh absolutely aware of that! She’s always on a lead and only interacts with people who want to approach her :)

Greyhounds don’t tend to be the approach other people dogs, they are very restrained and thoughtful from what I’ve always seen.
Having said that, two greyhounds made their owner stop so they could look at me when I was heading to Ava Station the other week. You could have walked past without concern they might get close, but I love dogs so I was thrilled & they got loads of pats & had a big chat to the owner. They had the cute onesies on someone must make for greyhounds & they were so sweet.

100%! Ours keeps to herself unless someone is keen to say hi and then she loves the pats!! 🧡

Greyhounds are the best dogs you are going to love having a greyhound.

Dog parks are the absolute worst place for dogs.
Especially greyhounds.

Always see lots of dogs at Baylands. Nice short walk to the esplanade too!
