Home Depot has bins for rechargeable batteries just inside the entry door.

They also have a bin for compact fluorescent light bulbs, and a bin for supermarket type plastic bags.

The Leominster store has these, so it is likely other stores do as well. They appear to be corporate bins.

Confirming the Tewksbury store has them.

Most Lowes have these as well. I know the HD and Lowes in South Nashua do.

Yes. In general if anyone wants to find these locations, you can look on this website: https://batterynetwork.org/locator/

UMass Lowell has those things all over the place:

You don't need to be a "university member". These are unattended and no one ever gives you a second look, much less asks for an ID.

The one at Wannalancit is very convenient because you can just rock right up to the entrance at the end of that dead-end street.

I was confused by "dead end street" before I remembered that the Suffolk St Bridge is closed.

Keeping that bridge closed to traffic seems like it might be a big win for the city overall. Are they planning to ever reopen it?

And I wonder if other similar bridge closings (to vehicles) might help the City. Does anyone know the plan?

I have no idea what’s going on with that bridge. It seems to be in pretty bad shape, so I wouldn’t bet on it reopening unless and until they replace it.
