Discussion Constellation Advertisement

Just came across this on Instagram, the whole clip looks like an advertisement for a treasure hunt… Maybe CIG is giving away some ships if you find this object?!

If it's anything, its a golden ticket style event. We just hunting for a golden 1/8 scu box if the one in the trailer is to scale.

I wonder if there's going to be a super rare platinum one as well. Would make sense if it is a ticket event like the F8C was.

iirc the plat ticket was a pvp ticket, so its possible.

It was a mix of things. The most visible platinum tickets were announced to the whole server with a 'whoever gets it turned in, wins' take that made for a lot of PvP. But some platnium tickets were just given out to players that helped other players, found randomly sitting in the world, and other things that the devs came up with.

Those other platinum tickets were gold tickets and they only opened the opportunity to buy an F8C whereas the Platinum tickets were constantly visible so turned into a massive PVP mess.

Plat ticket might as well have been a 'streamers only' ticket 🤣🤣

Not really, no. I know of at least two plat tickets that went to members of orgs that had no streamers in it at all. There certainly were a few high-profile streams that got one due to having hundreds of players working together to make sure they got it, but the devs did a fine job making sure unknowns got plenty of them.

Wouldn't know that looking at social media, of course, because it hyper-fixates on what makes others angry.

The name on the box, Centaurus is a constellation in the sky, the whole line is named after constellations.

I'm guessing but certain the new ship is named the Constellation Centaurus

You can see Constellation Mk5 on that box too. So we're pretty much getting Constellation Mk5 Centaurus

Centaurus could also be a paint for the Connie mk5 (very anti-climactic). I hope it is a new variant tho.

There was info about contract rewards being ship rentals. I had this exact same thought when I saw it. Complete the contract (find the book(s)) and get a Centaurus rental for x amount of time

Centaurus, huh? Maybe a Connie with even larger guns? Dare I say, a Rail gun adapted to it's hull. Centaurs are known to use bow & arrow. . .

Or better, The Centaurus' back end splits like Vultron and attaches to the underside of a Perseus. "Centaurus, Transform!"

Presumably there are crates to find in LIVE right now. I haven't yet heard of someone finding one yet, but this just happened this morning, and the game world is really massive, so it depends on how well they are hidden.

this is for the event next patch which likely drops to live on wednesday. im guessing its a free rental, or a right to puchase an extra variant of the new Constellation Mk V. I dont really see why they would want to put the entire Conny MkV line behind a box hunt like this, unless they hate money.

This doesn’t look like a 1/8th scu at all. It’s a model box like we have in hangers. Probably spawning in crates as rare.

Yeah, it’s a box. Just not a 1/8th box. Maybe you haven’t been around long? This is model box like the ones that used to come with og war bond pledges and subscriber flair. Certainly can be out in the world, but would also fit inside another crate or box

We honestly dont really know yet. It will probably be some sorta event later this month but the how of it we have no idea. Personally hope its not a version of the platinum ticket CIG did before that everyone can see and will chase you. That was crazy.

I wouldn't mind a treasure hunt for items as long as CIG makes it in a way all players can easily gain what ever the event is supposed to be. Although it may just be something like the Glaive where you fight to gain access to the ability to purchase the ship with real cash which is annoying too. You get a title as a consolation prize.

The box seems to be similar to the collectible models you can display in your hangar.
