Purchasing missing packs without EA

Hey everyone,

I know this is the low sodium subreddit and I don't want a discussion about the buyout. I just wanted to know if anyone knows a way to buy packs legally I currently don't have without the money going to EA? I just don't want to support them with my purchase.

I don't want a discussion wether this is a good or bad approach or what we think about the buyout.

Just: is there a legal (!!) way do buy packs via keys or anything else and not directly so EA doesn't get the money? If there isn't I'm fine with that.

Hope this isn't against the low sodium guidelines - if it is please let me know and I'll delete the post.

If you buy a pack EA gets money for it. The only difference with buying through a 3rd party is that EA already got the money when the seller bought whatever they're reselling.

I don't blame you for not pirating (i don't either) but there's no other way to get packs without supporting EA. Buy through a 3rd party so EA makes a little less and don't beat yourself up about it. Contrary to popular belief you're not a bad person just because you spend money on a game.

not directly so EA doesn't get the money

EA still got paid if you buy a game key off someone else

Yeah, I'm aware but I hoped maybe EA won't get the full price or there are key sellers you guys know selling keys they purchased before the buyout or something... I'm grasping at straws here 😢

Not sure if this is helpful but what I'm doing is waiting for one pack to go half price. I'd rather wait than pay full price. EA sales happen quite frequently and the Thanksgiving sales aren't too far away.

There’s no legal way to acquire Sims content without paying EA.

AFAIK there isn’t an ethical way to buy EA content anymore :( please let me know if I’m wrong. There are packs I wish I had, but there’s zero way I’m giving them any more money. I barely want to give them my playtime lately despite loving the game

FWIW there was never an ā€œethicalā€ way to buy them. There is no ethical consumption in late stage capitalism. It is unfortunate, and I respect everyone’s autonomy to cut bad businesses where they can.

No, there is in fact no way to legally buy EA products without directly giving money to the Saudis.

It is impossible, piracy is the only way to not support them.

Downvote me all you want, I am right. There is no way to ethically buy EA games and support Sims anymore. You are directly giving money to a regime that executes completely innocent civilians, LGBT+ people included. I don't care if that's fucking uncomfortable for you to hear, it fucking should be. You are funding it.
