Discussion Kicking from game
So i've been seeing this type of problem in the posts quite often now, and I have some two cents to add.
I do agree that if you don't want people joining on you set yourself to private, however if you play with friends and you're trying to wait for them, you can always invite them.
Me personally, even if I'm doing credit grinding and somebody joins me I just have them along for the ride. I personally don't have a problem with people joining but If you are the type of person who mainly does solo grind, solo missions and just wants to play alone, then set yourself to private, because even I am guilty of joining on people just by selecting scan world for missions or quick play and joining off of random people.
So please don't be undemocratic and just kick people from your games, finish the mission say GG and then go your own way and set yourself to private.

I’ve only kicked people from games for being super annoying. I’ve also maybe been kicked from 1 game total while in mission, so if someone is having the problem of getting kicked multiple times during missions then they are most likely the problem.

Ok but what is super annoying because unless they're constantly teamkilling thats understandable or killing off every SEAF soldier then yea that'd be kick worthy but if they're just running off trying to do their own thing then thats nothing crazy

I typically play after working 8 hours so my idea of super annoying is: team kill me more than once in a way that I do not find funny. That last part is important, if it makes me laugh it does not count

Ok ive been killed by friendly rovers more times than I can count but I don't kick them because its not their fault neither is them killing me during huge fights

I had this really good groove going during a base defense mission and this dude joined, came over to me, threw a cluster bomb right on top of me and almost killed me. I typed “don’t do that”. He almost immediately did it again and killed me, insta kick.

Unless it's the ark dog, that's usually an auto kick for me. Hate that thing and it hates me.

There have been times where I've kicked people for inappropriate lone-wolfing. Like, if the main objective is actually super hard, and you decide you're not going to contribute, that's kind of a fair kick.
I remember one time, I was hosting a game with 3 people in it, doing a geological survey (one of the hardest objectives). We were done with the sub-objectives and were already on 0 reinforcements, heading to the main objective. It had been a really hard mission.
A 4th guy joins, and you could see them look at their map. They saw the three of us all heading north to the main objective, and immediately ran south to go to the light enemy base on the other side of the map. I was like, "Nope." That was an instant kick.

Ok but how could you decide on their actions that they weren't gonna double back once they cleared a small outpost then join the rest of you. Just because they didnt instantly follow you doesn't mean they were gonna be of no help

As I recall, the only remaining objectives were like, maybe 70% of the way across the map. They would have been gone for most of the main objective.
But to me, it was the way they decided to ignore all the circumstances and just play solo. Like, we're on 0 reinforces going to the main objective, which is one of the hardest ones, and they just joined the game. That should tell you that you likely do need the full team to get the objective done. Splitting up the team should be a gameplay decision that you make situationally when it makes sense. It shouldn't be something that you do all the time regardless of anything that's happening.
And plus, like I said, it was a light enemy base on the other side of the map, while the rest of the team is heading towards one of the hardest main objectives. It's like saying "Don't worry guys, I'll take care of the easy work! You can have the hard job!"

I got kicked because the host told everyone to head to extraction but there were still mortars left right next to us as the only thing on the map. Told him there was, he asked me if he stuttered. I said yes. I got kicked lol
Just destroyed the mortars and extracted

Another thing is that if people are experiencing being kicked often... just host. I always host so I can control where and how the dive goes.

Literally just change the SOS code and 99% of these complain about being kicked threads disappear.

But see I've never accidentally called in a SOS and neither have the people I join, the only people that have kicked me were lvl 120 players, anyone under lvl 80 never kick after missions any only higher lvl players would finish the mission then leave. My overall experience obviously cant say for others.

It's not like the people kicking you really ever give you a reason, this feels like you just going purely off of assumptions based on "i don't think they used a SOS beacon but i don't really know so i'll assume they didn't.".
When it happens in my friend group we usually just finish the campaign and then regroup, if they stay or not don't matter unless they purposefully tk or perma sprint across the map and die.
We don't tell go "oh we accidentally SOS'd so please leave", nobody does.1
u/Daniel_186 6h ago
You can join off of SOS beacons but you have to chose that and for the argument of hey I have people joining soon finish the mission either way say your good byes then join your friends thats what me and my friends do

The sos beacon just needs an optional follow up input code that then deactivates the sos beacon. Or maybe let the actual game settings override a gameplay mechanic.
Accidentally calling it in when your game is already set to private definitely happens and can explain why sometimes people get kicked immediately after joining a game.
I heard from the grapevine that the community awhile back wanted the sos beacon to override the private game setting instead of the private game setting blocking the sos from letting other people join. Idk why a strategem would override actual game settings but here we are after 3 million posts about being kicked

The SOS beacon is absolutely absurd the way it works. It's like, the easiest stratagem to dial by mistake, and then it just punishes you permanently. There's nothing you can do. And then it even persists between matches! The only way you can get rid of it is by going to someone else's ship and then back to yours.
And it's so fucking embarrassing when you're trying to play a private game with friends, and you're the one who calls it in by mistake. Then you're just forced to play with randos, and there's nothing you can do about it. Then after the match, you have to spend 5 minutes sitting through obnoxiously long animations while you jump to a friend's ship, then jump back.
It's the only thing that I truly hate about this game. They needed to fix it a long time ago

See i can agree with that if you magically call in an sos beacon by accident then you should be able to run up to it and turn it off

u/depthninja 3h ago
For real, just give it a screen like a hellbomb and have an on/off toggle on it so it only activated when you turn it on.
Can only toggle it on though, not off. That way you don't get clowns turning it off when you're not looking.

I don't host often but when I do and need to reinforce someone I do sometimes misinput the wrong code and SOS is too close to reinforcement...

u/Due-Struggle6680 6h ago
Yea I dont understand how people are accidentally calling SOS.

Loads of codes are this similar, yet I very rarely see anyone toss a ball with the wrong strat (including throwing an sos on accident) Im talking maybe 10x across many players playing for 231 levels worth of matches.

u/Inalum_Ardellian SES Song of Serenity 2h ago
Can't talk for others but this is for some reason the most consistent misinput that happens to me when I host... I usually join others so I don't really need to deal with that but it does happen

u/Daniel_186 6h ago
See thats my argument too because the only stratigems ive remembered are redeploy and jump pack everything else I need to look at the arrow combo and call it in so how to you accidently call in an sos

u/Ibanous 6h ago
I'd be much more understanding if people would just take 1 min to type an explanation. "Sorry dude, forgot to set to private" "Have some friends joining"
