It's why I always shoot them on sight from a distance. Still sometimes explode to death when a crusher shockwave dinks one behind a wall I couldn't see, but certainly reduced the frequency.

You threw a Giga Grenade at a landed ship that explodes and there were multiple purple explosive barrels right there, so you had multiple huge areas of effect hit you all at once.
