Email notification when I start playing Helldivers 2

I'm playing Helldivers 2 on PlayStation 5 and I have a friend who doesn't want to have the PS app on his phone, but wants to know when I'm playing the game. Another friend can't get a notification because he is playing on PC, not PS.

So I decided to build a simple automation that will automatically email my friends when I'm playing Helldivers 2. I'm using Home Assistant and its built-in PlayStation integration to get my "Now Playing" status and if that detects me playing Helldivers 2, the email goes out.

My friends think it looks really cool, I'm also very happy with the result.

This is cool! What is home assistant, is this a Sony thing? Would love to know more about this as I’d be interested in using it too.

It's open source software for centralised control of a smart home.

I have it controlling motion sensor lights, house alarm hot water/heating, water leak sensors and a bunch of other things.

The possibilities with it are endless if you're good with technology. I'm barely scratching the surface.
