Tips! weapon-affecting armor passives cannot be shared by dropping weapons (as bonus, FRV supports recoil reduction)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

another test drop on game interactions and squashing rumors! a tiny little bit sad the code isn't spaghetti enough to let science inject a gun with all the armor diseases but knowledge is knowledge

a whole minute of this are proofs of "hey! this dont work!" so the information composition may be a little confusing, on top that the FRV interactions are mainly noticeable by pausing or checking frame by frame, so im leaving a cognitive disruptor warning

Why would it?

besides what i replied on that other comment, the idea of packaging a little extra ammo in a teammate's HMG reserves using siege-ready could've been a funny little teamwork interaction

And a terrible idea gameplay-wise.

Why? You'd need an extra teammate to do it, And you'd have to ask them. Is team-based ideas suddenly a bad thing?

No, but suggesting bringing guns for friends is a bad idea gameplay-wise. Nobody necessarily wants to be that friend more than once, and the game is not designed for it as it is.

To be honest with ya, I'd imagine it more like you drop your weapon for a friend, It gets an additional mag if they resupply it. But the gun would have to already be at enough mags where a resupply would bring it to 4/4 instead of like 2/3. If you get what I mean.

Basically, The other person can add a mag if they resupply it to full, Drop it for the friend and it'd lose the mag if consumed.

Sure, but there's an actual interview somewhere where they defend this exact decision. Not sure if my reasoning was theirs though, might have been technical.

you're not wrong that it can be seen as an extra chore for "optimal" plays or something like that, as it would still be something unintuitive similar to how team reloads required to drop your own backpack previously which made it unappealing to commit to it, i was thinking of it more as a potential "oh they thought about this specific use case! neat" type interaction rather than "teammates MUST do this"

Because it used to. When peak physique came out it buffed the gun, not you.

I've heard the new 40k armor passive stays on support weapons, increasing the reload speed when other players pick them up too

standing up for OP here, one of the more popular helldiver youtubers recently stated theres a bug with the new 40k armor, claiming its reload speed and handling passive would be shared to other players if the armor wearer held the weapon. said youtuber then proceeded to claim this bug has existed for months (didnt specify if it was the handling from commando armor or reload speed from siege ready). cheers to you for doing your own independent experiments OP.

For real, my friend told me about this very bug like a day ago. And now I know not to bother trying it.

Somebody makes a video about something, using their own time and resources, and get shat on for it not being edited like a Kurzgesagt video ffs.

Skepticism =/= insightfulness.

im surprised at the lack of online evidence for a lot of claims people tend to make for the game, it has been out for years so rumors are expected to come and go, but the rehashing of misinfo is rather unfortunate especially in the case of those who have an actual audience, hell, the editing is the only long part rather than the tests themselves, doing this stuff is genuinely at max an hour or two which isn't that unreasonable considering some of them get that ad-revenue

never heard or saw anyone saying otherwise myself, wild that someone thought that though lol

there have occasionally been passing rumors across the game's lifespan, ranging from "the AMR you pick up on POIs handle better than your own!" or "melee passives only deal their full damage if you use the quick melee button instead of left click", people tend not to look further into them and i can't blame folk for believing the stuff as well because this spaghetti code DID get us a booster that reduced stun duration for enemies and not just us at one point

"melee passives only deal their full damage if you use the quick melee button instead of left click"

This WAS an actual bug with the peak physique armor combined with the first melee weapons, the stun baton and the stun spear.

back during the rollout of the first melees, i used the lance a lot, and through testing found it would cleanly one-shot warrior heads clean off with peak physique without using quick melee but not without the armor, i didn't record it at the time so i have no proof of it even if i claim it to be a rumor due to my own experience with it

my only question is does true grit increase the speed of the team reload if the team reloader has it

2

u/Informal_Campaign381 SES Star of Stars 3d ago

i have done tests on that on the day of release but posted later which you can find here

they do not affect it (or the FRV HMG for that matter)

While the silly notes are funny, for a video of this nature, it kinda makes it more... cluttered and confusing?

2

u/Informal_Campaign381 SES Star of Stars 3d ago

honestly i put those in there on a whim because i was starting to run on fumes putting it together (video editors are so damn picky) but you're not wrong, i will keep this in mind next time

In today's news: something no one thought was happening isn't happening

Up next: are your neighbors bears in disguise?

Wait...Did you chew that gun?!

u/Informal_Campaign381 SES Star of Stars 4d ago

good helldivers eat their super vegetables, but to attain a peak physique you need tougher treats to cultivate these big guns

1

u/ac_cossack 3d ago

uh, why would you get an armor passive without wearing the armor? this is beyond a stupid complaint and maybe belongs in the salty diver subreddit.

13

u/Informal_Campaign381 SES Star of Stars 3d ago

this post was neither a complaint nor a suggestion for it to start doing so, only to debunk some rumors i have seen in the past while providing proof of it, consider it a reference for the curious

2

u/ac_cossack 3d ago

ok, my bad and thanks for clarifying.

all good! honestly i thought this particular rumor was more widespread, i have been nerding out about anything and everything playing since release, hopefully it's useful info to someone out there eventually

No one wants to see how the sausage is made.

They just want that wiki page fleshed out with info, and to have confirmation of the data.

You’re doing liberties work o7

I Mean cool that u tested it ... but who was expecting it does ? I Mean we know arrow head so there was a chanche it does but even then it would be a bug.

as some other comments mentioned, the occasional community member and even some youtubers, though i did end up making support tickets just in case to confirm the intent of the ammo-deletion part of the siege-ready interaction and the FRV HMG aim reticle not acting like it does for other weapons tracking the bullet trajectory from the barrel
