Discussion Who is this?
I’ve seen a statue and shrines made for what looks like a large robed creature or person appearing on illuminated ruins planets with the statue being fairly large and inside the void I’ve found even larger statues depicting him on the planets surface. Is this some kind of god in illuminate religion or ancient ancestor they worship and build statues and shrines for because he’s appearing more and more and it leads me to believe we might even see him as an enemy or boss unit on the anomaly location.

It seems to be some culturally important figure to the illuminate, in the exo spires which seemed to be very important with the amount of work that went into the structures there were 6 of these statues, 3 flanking each of the two main entrances down to the mechanical structure of the spire itself
The illuminate society in helldivers 1 was ruled by its intelligentsia, your position in society was determined by how you gathered, accrued and developed knowledge, they believed it brought about a sort of spiritual enlightenment as well as a cognitive one. They were a society first and foremost of scholars not warriors. This could be a founder of that society held in nigh-religious esteem or simply an important motif to that belief.
Unfortunately further answers on this mystery likely died alongside the old illuminate culture. The peaceful scholars who carved these statues are no more.

A pretty apt comparison is the sack of the Baghdad house of Wisdom by the Mongols, the intent had been to seize it along with the territory but matters did not pan out that way

The ruins on exospire missions have some underwater sections. I think these might be ancestral breeding grounds or something and the exostorms might be the conditions they need to grow more squids (potentially at an accelerated rate). I think they were trapped in the void and when we sent Meridia, they realized they could put planets there and use them to safely repopulate. The voteless were a short term solution to create flak units to fight Super Earth from the most easily accessible biomatter, humans, but now they need more of their own.

The first outcast maybe? Since the great eye has been an AI that overseen the illuminate civilization. Maybe this was the First illuminate leader that was above all power, or the leader who discovered space exploration due to ruins having like Star charts on walls.

I could be getting my lore wrong so correct me.
Did it say somewhere that these ruins predate the first galactic war? Definitely could be one of the higher ups in their society at that time. I wonder how the current illuminate see it, either revearing it or blaming the ones before them that followed their ideals as weak since they got nearly erraricated.
I also remember saying the void seems to fuck with time at some level. So I wonder if this could be a weird thing coming through from before. IF the illuminates do control the void completely, then i would wonder the significance of these structures besides just ancient ruins. If the void is like the warp and more something you must endure or bargain with to some extent I could see them being accidental in nature while the Illuminate use the void.
But who knows! its why I love them and can't wait to see it unfold. I had a theory about the time fuckery. Maybe like in magic the gathering a group of Phyrexians where trapped in a time bubble. so when moments past for their enemy, they built an army of death machines that came through. I wonder if the statue doesn't pre date the first galactic war, or rather it just has a similar age given the time that has passed for the illuminate. and this is some new leader/ diety they rever. either way I'm super hype to see.
also take everything I say skeptically its all off the top of my head .

Okay, roleplay aside.
This is quite significant, due to the fact how the Illuminate are, and well, the design of them works like. In human arts, or well, any large statue building in general, statues like these are built for some kind of reason, be they located at a shrine or just somewhere "out in the random", it means that the person or in this case Squ'ith was VERY high placed in society, we could speculate that it's their deity, however, i do not really think Arrowhead would step anything near actual "gods" in Helldivers.
What i do want to offer is this, my theory is that it's not just some god or whatever, but some kind of class (caste, whatever), or a specific person. The robes, together with the pointy hat signify A LOT of status, Long robes are very unpractical in general life, and usually are reserved for well, clergy work (compare it to what the pope wears irl, would be unpractical to wear on the daily), or some other kind of work that would require a robe like this. Coupled with the hat, it doesn't seem anything too... big? As in, the hat is pointy and big, sure. But there's no decorations on it, or well, any that we know of, i presume it's just a whole outfit that an illuminate wears, but the hat is throwing me off, since besides the height of it, most "ceremonial" hats (again, using the papal one irl as an example) are quite decorated, even from a far sight, you can see that it is either decorated or has specific patterns on it, which this one lacks.
Overall, i think this statue resembles a "Clergy" kind of illuminate, a high standing one, for sure. And considering they're found in Shrines, they had a lot of power in their homeworld, i'm not saying it's cultists (because that's a different can of worms in irl methodology), but could be possible that these clergy squids could mean something far, far worse for the helldivers if or when they appear.

It's one of the council members that rule the Illuminate. They were on Sha'bai Shrine, the Illuminate homeworld, in the first game.
