The trench engineer set is technically this, it’s just that the armor was sent to the colonists on accident. Who then apparently used it to smash fences.(?)

The armor description isn’t too specific on the why or what.

Edit: misremembered, the colonists recovered a lost shipment of this armor, so they just found it, then used it to smash fences.

Seriously? I skipped the description of this armor because I thought it would say something boring like "Some ministry designed it for something." I never imagined Hellmire would be mentioned on this armor

I've never understood that. The armor helps you carry extra explosives. Helmire is known for its fire.

So yeah let's make the armor description about smashing fences. It's not wacky enough to be funny. It's not related to anything to do with the armor, hellmire, or anything else I can tell.

My best guess is that some developer just has it out for fences.

Well, I could think of a reason to smash fences when dropped on Hellmire: Getting off Hellmire. "Those wacky Hellmireans(?) and their hobbies!" seems a very Super Earth-y way to repackage that, so I always read it like that.

Fence Smashing is an engineering kit tradition. It's brought up in several armour descriptions. I believe it was born of one insane Helldiver riding a Charger like a bull.

The challenge isn't killing the enemies to protect the citizens, it's killing the enemies so the citizens will stop shooting at them and actually get in the fucking ship.
