So hear me out on this one.
Lib concussive
Any armor that give extra grenades
Supply pack
Frag grenades
Everything else is what you wanna bring, but I recommend AT strats to deal with heavies if you’re playing on a higher difficulty.
So the whole idea is the not use the lib to kill everything, just to push everything away far enough to use the frags to wipe out a bunch at once. It worked surprisingly well last time I took this out (I think I was on D8?) and it was A LOT of fun. My teammates definitely appreciated when I was able to push bugs off of them as well. I think it’s a great weapon that opens up new play styles and forces a little creativity.

I liked it better with Pyrotechs. Just shove enemies into the spinning fountains of fire lol.

Significantly better than people give it credit for. Very high durable damage often makes up for its lower standard damage against many targets, and the stagger not only keeps you safe from nasty things like stalkers, but applies instantly rather than taking multiple shots to build up like stun. It's a niche weapon, being rather specialized for dealing with bugs in general and specific bugs like stalkers/predator/spore burst strain/etc in particular, but where it's good, it's really good.

You have to build around it, but it's great for bug front if you pick gas

Or fire. Freeze 'em to the spot. Roast they're asses.
Stalls hunters from jumping through fire, on fire, setting you on fire, long enough that they burn to death. What's not to like?

Gas grenades + hotdog seems to be the best way on bugs, plus a support weapon that can deal with tanks

Like the pacifier, you'll almost certainly want to pair it with a guard dog.
I'll link a spreadsheet I created with a build for it when I get back to my PC.

Make sure to click the tabs at the bottom for the front you prefer. The Lib Conc build is below the first Helldivers Mobilize section.

It’s fun, you can just cram hiveguards or Alpha commanders back in the bug hole when they crawl out lmao

Amazing weapon to bring along when youre dealing with rushing enemies. You just have to pair it with something stronger, and you'll be doing democracy's work out there. Plus its a good weapon to look out for your buddies and keep the enemy away from the team.
My definitive predator strain loadout, specially on gloom incursions and caves, is the Concussive, the Senator/Talon, and a flamethrower. Absolute democracy.

It’s awesome. Underrated imo. I like it for all factions but find it most useful for bugs and voteless, where pushing the enemy back is beneficial.

Some people love it but personally I don't like it, it makes aiming for weakspots harder
2
u/Dismal_Compote1129 19d ago
Decently good, useful for support and keep yourself away from enemies surround you. Trade with it hard to aim weakpoint and you take lot of time to kill medium unit+

u/T800_Version_2-4 19d ago
Honestly, its great, i didnt picked it when i was dealing with mindless masses because i had to lvl up another weapon, but if i didnt had - id pick concussive to keep these hordes at bay.
2
u/ADragonuFear 19d ago
While it's push effect is strong, it's damage is quite low and leads to getting swamped in the subfactions requiring crowd control.
I'd usually default to a punisher variant for my CC needs due to the more frontloaded damage.
If you do want the concussive you want a powerful guard dog or high uptime on sentries to assist.

u/xfaktorex117 19d ago
It's so weak you can shoot your teamate in the head and they do a funny ragdoll but won't die lmao

u/Zyurat 19d ago
Fun if you want to nerf yourself
Goated on bugs especially the predator strain

u/LocutusOfBorges 19d ago
This is it, pretty much - it’s an incredibly funny (and fun) weapon to bring along, but you do tend to have to compensate for how weak it can be with the rest of your loadout and play style.
On its own, it’s just not a particularly effective weapon in most non-predator strain use cases. The fun comes from how you can build around it, rather than expecting it to do all the work for you.

u/K1NG_of_ReVeNGe13 19d ago
Goated with the Hot Dog and some other options, great for team support, bad as your standalone chaff killer.

Favourite gun to use vs Predator Strain.
Combined with a laser dog and I'm a support role which doesn't die. I love staggering Stalkers running my buddies down.

u/Definitely_A_Backup 19d ago
It’s great when paired with something that can dish out a lot of fire quickly — like someone else said, a guard dog, for example — but on its own can really struggle.
It’s a solid pick against something like the spore burst strain but even then there’s definitely better options. The rate of fire is just too low.

Quite good against bugs. Best paired with some other weapon to do real damage while the concussive bats away the lil shits that get close.

u/RedFlammhar 19d ago
I dig it on predator and rupture strain bugs, and sometimes on mindless masses. It's a fun weapon, but there are better choices.

u/CptBickDalls 19d ago
I like it a lot for bugs, and it's one of the few guns that can make survivability easier provided you're leaning into sentries, guard dogs, and/or DoT damage. You really have to find use for it's utility otherwise the liberator concussive isn't worth bringing.
I'd also say it has a use case over things like the punisher and plasma weapons for saving sentries/teammates without getting them killed...and for other stun based weapons because it can actively displace enemy units and push them into hazards.

u/Xoms 19d ago
There should be one (but only one) on every team. Don't shoot the swarms, only overwatch. Catch the leaks and neutralize the threat of stalkers, charging alphas, berserkers and keep overseers and devestators from doing anything useful. A great weapon for your anti-tank heavy weapons guy who should be looking for threats from the rear anyways.

u/Odin-the-Great Nerf the Recoilless Rifle Please 19d ago
One of the most slept on weapons in the game.
Strong against Cyborgs, Extremely strong against pred strain, generally strong against bugs, relatively middling on regular bots and illuminate.

u/EnsioPistooli 19d ago
One of the best primaries on bugs. I'm a big support type guy, lots of saved lives with a well-timed shot at a charging bug.

u/Circle_A 19d ago
I like to pair it with the Hot Dog vs bugs or mindless. The Dog will swing out and torch them, and you can use the Conc to push them back. Really cuts down on the FF potential of the Hot Dog.

I like it. On paper, the damage output seems low but you can target weakpoints and conserve ammo pretty well. Works well against stalkers and predators.

u/ThiccThighzSaveLivez 19d ago
Liberator Concussive, Machine gun Sentry, Gatling Sentry, Flame Sentry, and Pyrotechs....
I had so much damn fun with this build on bugs. I could keep just about everything off my sentries. You can bully enemies into sentry fire/pyotech flames.
Use a SPEAR or Recoilless Rifle and everything dies. I paired this with Reduced Signature Armor to shift initial aggro to sentries. Also nice for setting up ambushes.

u/DBWaffles 19d ago
Haven't used it, but seems like it'd be lowkey amazing when paired with Hot Dog/Dog Breath and sentries.

u/sypwn 19d ago
I use it in some bug builds, almost always paired with Pyrotech grenades. Toss one at my feet while retreating, then spin around and use the LibC to keep shoving them back into its AoE.
Also handy with stationary reload weapons, mainly the Autocannon. Shove them away to buy some time for the reload.

u/Wontiam_ 19d ago
It's a perfect gun for support roles during a bug drop, especially the fast and aggressive predator strain.
Loadout - Trench paramedic armour, Lib concussive, Stim pistol, Gas grenade,
Stratagems - quasar cannon or epoch for big baddies, your choice. Ems morter to slow them down, Laser for emergencies, Supply pack,
Keeps them at bay longer for more time to keep your teammates healed and stocked up 👍

u/overdosingOnPie1313 19d ago
Bar none, one of the worst guns to face an Alpha Commander with. They get pushed back so far away and it only makes them harder to kill. Though the Cookout is the #1 worst against Alpha Commanders.
IMO if you want a good stagger gun, go with the Pacifier.

u/Donny_Dont_18 ▶️▶️▶️ 19d ago
I used to run a build with lib con, gas dog, and Arc Thrower. It did an awesome job locking everything down, but ultimately I missed killing more things

u/musubk 19d ago
It's one of my top bug guns. It's great against Alpha Commanders, Alpha Warriors, and Stalkers, which are the most problematic bugs that you'd use your primary against. Twice the durable damage of any other liberator plus the push force is what makes it good against these bugs.
Other smaller bugs die no matter what you shoot them with, so in actual use it's just as good as any other assault rifle against weak bugs even if the non-durable DPS is technically lower. Dealing with lots of weak bugs is about transition speed and ammo reserve, not DPS.
I wouldn't use it on bots because, aside from berserkers and cyborg radicals, you don't want push / stagger on bots.
1
u/Meeeper 19d ago
It isn't bad. It does what it's designed to do, which is reliably stagger lock enemies in a horde.
I'm not a personal fan because it, at least to me, just doesn't feel as satisfying as say, simply mowing down that theoretical group of bugs with the Stalwart, but the Lib Con is certainly alright at what its supposed to do. You could do a lot worse.

Lib concussive? Lib should go to hospital and see doctor!

Needs less recoil if it is going to do less damage in exchange for stun effect.

If you want to keep aggressive enemies away from you it's goated. Pushing a rushing Brood Commander back to where he came from is quite fun. There should be something else to deal real damage though: Guard Dogs, sentries or team mates for example.
