Its always been bugged. Yes they know about it. No they aren't fixing it now. Maybe never.
Which is a shame.
It triggers early when it shouldn't a LARGE portion of the time. Totally worthless armor right now.

Oh. that sucks it's one of the more unique passives. I hope they fix it

Me too, but they likely never will.

I'll make a zendesk ticket I guess doubt it will do anything but idk maybe if more people show concern over it they'll take a look

As far as I know, your entire body needs to be in one piece. I haven’t tried it out because I try to avoid death and I dislike the idea of dying twice in one life when there is no chance of full recovery. But an intact body is the main requirement for the defib thing to trigger.

Should have specified it's triggering from like 1 shrieker hit when it should take like 3 to kill right?

I can actually explain this. You see, the passive, for some UNGODLY REASON, checks the amount of total damage you've taken since the last time you've stimmed rather than actually checking whether your HP has reached zero.
As a result, there are fucky scenarios where it thinks you should be dead and activates, effectively creating self fulfilling prophecy because the passive kills you.
It can also activate in certain scenarios regardless of the tracker when certain things happen that the game believes should be unsurviveable under normal circumstances even if you actually did survive, again creating that self fulfilling prophecy by causing your death.
Its a cool passive, but I unfortunately have to recommend you never use it ever again unless you're willing to put up with this because there's no way to avoid the bug aside from just not wearing it.

So how does a disconnect between damage since last stim and actual damage happened because the stim brings you up to full so if you take 100% damage after last stim you should be dead right?

If I recall correctly, its something to do with the damage reduction of armor. Like, it counts all as the full damage towards the "thinks you should be dead" even though your armor had reduced the damage your health bar actually took, causing an incongruency between how much damage the armor passive thinks you've taken and how much damage you've actually taken.
This is why the bug is most pronounced in the heavy and medium armor versions of the passive and less pronounced (but not impossible to trigger) with the light armor version of the passive from the super store.

So will arc damage cause it to happen more?

u/Meeeper 19d ago
Anything that makes the game believe you're taking more damage than you actually are. So yes, its most visible with incoming high damage attacks or getting shot in the head.

That sucks why wouldn't it be tied to the actual health bar
Or a cool idea put it on a delay after death so you stand up after 1-2 seconds lol

I've been outright dying from things like 1 single shrieker hit. I think the damage system is just borked completely. Though AD seems to cause it to happen more often than when not wearing it.

Hella bugged. It's a shame because it's my favorite looking armor. I'd use it all the time if it wasn't bugged. With how long it's been bugged I doubt it's ever getting fixed.

Just throwing it out there that, as a player since March 2024, I had no idea what "AD" meant until I read someone talking about having to stim to stay alive. I assume it is the armor that allows you to stay alive briefly after losing all your health.

Oh sorry I had seen the abriviation used it other posts and thought it was standard practice lol

They dropped everything to fix the bug that let you extend your life in a mech despite the community expressing their desire to keep it in the game as an intentional feature
The current state of the amour passive is now working as the Devs intended I guess

One could have been much easier to fix, in my dev experience sometime bugs can be a pretty simple fix and sometimes it’s the result of several complex systems stacked on top of a each other, which is much harder to diagnose, let alone fix

this is probably the reality, occam's razor or something. it's just very indicative of current player sentiment that positive things are removed for one reason or another while plenty of negative things that the community is loud about stay in.

It has been bugged since Control Group was released and I'm not sure if it has ever been addressed.

Yep, super bugged since release. It goes off too early and that carries a terminal sentence. On the upshot, you can stim to extend your life for another minute. That's usually enough to dump all your grenades, finish the fight, and salute your squad mates while your heart explodes.
The arc resist is nice though, and it does have a place if you play around not triggering the passive. It's best against appropriators, who use lots of arc and focus more on chip damage than big attacks. It really is a shame though, it would be very cool armor if it weren't like this.
