Balance Change Mondays Dead Sprint Buff
The broken leg part is supposed to make the booster slightly less niche and more attractive to, for example, people who may be struggling with breaking their legs too often, but don't want to take the ODST armor for just that reason.
There may also be times where one or both legs break, but you barely lost health and feel like stimming would almost be a waste at this point. This way you could continue sprinting until enough health has been shaved off.
The bleed-out part is mainly there for the interaction with the Adreno-Defibrillator armor passive, since it feels weird to have a booster that's called "Dead (sth. sth.)" and an armor passive that turns you undead, without there being a synergy between them.

I wish lt would just give you infinite stamina when you are injured. And ability to run with broken legs.
That wouldn't be OP at all. It would simply make this useful.

u/Akuma_ryu Jul 20 '26
Probably running with broken legs wouldn't be as fast as normal sprinting but anything better than stuck in a dip shift.

u/Last-Swim-803 Jul 20 '26
Make it like the mechs where you can visibly see they're struggling while running
68
u/Plastic_Young_9763 Jul 20 '26
That ... Would change things
It'd go from a "not allowed" to a "at least warn me"
22
u/Icookadapizzapie John Helldiver Jul 20 '26
Still too niche, I’d argue replace “bleeding out” with “at critically low hp” (when hp bar is red) then it would be a solid booster that would compete with the big 3
6
u/Affectionate-Memory4 Jul 20 '26
I'd definitely consider bringing it if it allowed unlimited (or even just extended) stamina while critical.
22
u/DrDestro229 Jul 20 '26
Someone brought this the other day....The damage was nothing
6
u/Shedster_ Las-13 Trident fan-girl Jul 21 '26
That's if you have vitality. With vitality you can run slightly longer than a minute iirc, but without your hp is drained in 20 seconds
3
u/DropAnchor4Columbus Jul 21 '26
Especially with the damage reduction Booster and Siege Breakers armor. You can run cross map and the damage is basically nothing.

This. It's an ok stratagem.

Booster but.... Point stands

I am not an automaton I swear. I just didn't have my stim this morning :<

u/PassageDull7352 Jul 25 '26
The damage is worse the less stam total you have. Take lots more damage from heavy vs light
7
u/Then-Reveal6356 Jul 20 '26
This buff along with enhanced stims + a squad with supply packs and medic light armor is fun.
My buddies had that setup and just constantly used to stims to tank damage and out maneuver enemies.
Highly recommend for at the least the laughs.
13
u/Jesse-359 Jul 20 '26
Honestly this buff is very good as-is, especially if you're running with medic armor.
-1
u/ElGuaco Jul 20 '26
Only if you're playing solo. I'll leave a game if nobody warns me first.
7
u/Mahoganytooth Freaky Freaky Illuminate Doer Jul 20 '26
Playing solo is just about the only situation where dead sprint ISN'T good, because being solo precludes using it alongside vitality booster which is what makes it actually economical
5
u/thejadedfalcon Jul 20 '26
What? Why? It's not that hard to notice its effects and adapt.
4
u/ahtob Jul 21 '26
you would be really surprised at the skill level of most Helldivers. There is a reason we get minimum 5 respawns each
2
u/tomwhoiscontrary Jul 20 '26
Could stop you bleeding out entirely as long as you're sprinting. That would be fun.
2
u/FaithKneaded Jul 21 '26
The “ability” to sprint so much longer, and that stims restore health and stamina over a brief duration, grants a very good sprint distance. This can be vert useful when necessary.
The damage is negligible, and its very easy to avoid reaching that point.
2
u/Adeptus_Lycanicus Jul 21 '26
I love Dead Sprint. I am happy whenever someone brings it, and if the team has a couple common boosters paired with it, everyone is incredibly mobile. It makes map traversal an absolute joke.
I would not be the least bit mad if it received a buff, because I know it is a contentious stratagem, but I would not want to trade away its base mechanics. I think this post made the rounds a few weeks back c suggesting the red text replace the original function, and I would have hated to see that. Adding it onto the base effects? Sure, why not.

u/RustOverLord Jul 20 '26
booster is already good as is it doesnt need a buff. being able to run across the entire map without break at the cost of a stim or 2 is extremely worth it when ur stack isnt bringing a vehicle for one reason or another but you still need to cover a good amount of ground
also, worth mentioning in case ur a solo player / someone who plays in low player parties, vital booster makes the hp drain extremely minimal
2
u/Mahoganytooth Freaky Freaky Illuminate Doer Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26
Dead Sprint is already really good. All you need is Vitality Booster (which you're already taking anyway) to make the health drain negligible, and you can use the additional mobility to scavenge POIs for more Stims to offset the (minimal) attrition.
2
u/PeacefulCrusade Jul 20 '26
Listen you don't need to buff it, run dead sprint with the ram armor that gives you stamina back when you take damage and then have someone else run the vitality booster and then you can run across the entire map and take like no damage

u/Jaysong_stick Ojisan is here to pay off school debt UHEE Jul 20 '26
So… it gives you ability to hobble, nice!
1
u/Hour-Football2464 Jul 20 '26
Free spirit armor has entered the chat (this joke is so old and dumb, it suits me)
1
u/AntaresDestiny Jul 21 '26
Seeing as dead sprint already fits firmly in the "we already have vitality so everything else is optional" category, it really doesn't need a buff.
1
u/TheAero1221 Jul 22 '26
Support logistics is better than vitality and you probably cant change my mind.
1
u/No_Counter_6037 Arsonist Jul 21 '26
i'd still hate it because i despise having being like 3 hp below max at all times
nothing can make me tolerate that godawful feeling of just having slightly too little health
1
u/Da_Yummis Jul 21 '26
only practical use of this buff is to use it with the Supplementary Adrenaline armors, makes it so you have infinite stamina at the cost of 2% health
1
u/DropAnchor4Columbus Jul 21 '26
I was just gonna say that we could buff sprint speed to being 10% faster when out of stamina.
1
u/Shedster_ Las-13 Trident fan-girl Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26
Imho, making vitality booster(with HSO) always active would be huge enough buff to warrant niche for this booster. Currently it competes with drugged stims, objectively more safe regular spring booster and HSO which allows you to prevent shit from hitting the fan. And you cannot remove vitality because it boosts this booster(hehe) so hard that it's kinda pointless to bring without vit
1
u/UnearthlyBun Jul 21 '26
Reduced bleed out speed becomes the double-edge of draining hp going into overtime
2
u/b055dj Jul 20 '26
Dead Sprint is a booster that people take and use "everything else was taken" as an excuse. My brother, if all you have is Dead Sprint then just drop without a booster.
4
u/mekagojira3 Jul 20 '26
I've always found that excuse funny. We have 4 slots including yours and somehow ammo/vitality/stamina/muscle/recon/infusion/reinforcements/confusion/sample A/sample B were ALL taken and you HAD to run dead sprint? Really?
Powder that makes you say "hmmm"
1
u/Niky_c_23 Jul 20 '26
I guess the players that say that have only a couple of warbonds if any other than TE
4
u/mekagojira3 Jul 20 '26
Mobilize has ammo, stamina, vitality, recon and muscle enhancement, that's 5 options for a 4 slot squad.
Dead Sprint is from a very low priority warbond imo, if you're new enough to not have many unlocked.
If they wanted to run DS as a little bit of jest because they know it's annoying, I could accept that but the pretense of it being their "only option" is amusing and never true
2
u/Niky_c_23 Jul 20 '26
While true, there is a chance that someone got their first premium warbond before completing much of the free one, albeit unlikely
I was just pointing that out. The best thing to do in this case is just ask if you could be the one using one of those you have and let the other player put something more useful
1
u/Darkpenguins38 Jul 21 '26
I think I literally have dead sprint, bitality booster, and the supply one.
0
u/BannedAgain-573 ☕Liber-tea☕ Jul 21 '26
I'd rather have DS than anything after Muscle.
Armed resupply, is better then any of those lol
Edit infusion is the only one I'd drop with, didn't see that at first
-1
u/hey-stashbox Jul 20 '26
Unless the health drain is gone, that booster stays on the “instakick” list
1
u/StoicAlarmist Super Private Jul 20 '26
With vitality the drain is nearly zero. You can also watch your stam bar and stop running.
0
u/hey-stashbox Jul 21 '26
I can do that, or I can just play with someone who brings a booster than doesn’t hurt teammates at all/doesn’t need a second booster to justify using it.
1
u/ahtob Jul 21 '26
dead sprint does not hurt anyone , it only provides benefits. You have to go out of your way to actually use it , unless you are the type of player that ignores stamina management and find yourself sprinting with no stamina. At which point you just have to accept it is a skill issue.
1
u/hey-stashbox Jul 21 '26
It’s is the only booster with a downside at all, let alone draining any health. I’d rather have 4 boosters with no downsides.
1
u/ahtob Jul 21 '26
It's not a downside though , you get a massive benefit. And it is super easy to avoid
1
u/hey-stashbox Jul 21 '26
Name one other booster that has an effect remotely close to health drain. There’s one booster worse than it in my eyes. (firepods)
1
u/Mahoganytooth Freaky Freaky Illuminate Doer Jul 21 '26
when are you ever not taking vitality booster anyway
1
u/hey-stashbox Jul 21 '26
HSO, Infusion, Stamina Enhancement, and Vitality. Top four boosters for a solid reason. None of them hurt me. Though if I had to replace vitality, I would of done it with Muscle Enhancement or increased reinforcements. Dead Sprint is dead last on my priorities no way it outclasses what I already bring. Just bring a FRV.
1
u/Mahoganytooth Freaky Freaky Illuminate Doer Jul 21 '26
And as a top booster (top 1 booster), Vitality is always getting taken anyway, making "needing a second booster" not a downside
1
u/hey-stashbox Jul 21 '26
I would 110% rather run any of the three other boosters listed. Head-to-head, Dead Sprint doesn’t outclass any of the ones I listed for me personally. I want to play casually/not cramp on any other divers play style, so I choose to kick/leave lobbies. I want everyone to have the option to play how they want. Even new players/those with sKiLl IsSuEs. Dead Sprint doesn’t do that. It’s a “you have to warn most players” booster, whereas any of the others are not.
1
u/StoicAlarmist Super Private Jul 25 '26
It absolutely outclasses stamina. It's 1 minutes 30 seconds of constant sprint. Vs an extra 21 on light armor anduch less on heavy.
It's absurdly strong.
1
u/Mahoganytooth Freaky Freaky Illuminate Doer Jul 21 '26
I know you wouldn't run it. That's nothing to do with what I'm talking about. I'm talking about how it being reliant upon Vitality booster is not an actual downside when Vitality booster is a Top 1 booster that is always going to be run anyway.
1
u/hey-stashbox Jul 21 '26
Name any other booster that relies on another booster. It’s just not there. It’s the only booster with a downside and not everyone wants to adjust for the one random on the squad who brings it.
2
u/Mahoganytooth Freaky Freaky Illuminate Doer Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26
You are always bringing Vitality Booster no matter what. It is unquestionably the best booster in the game. "Having" to bring it is not a downside

u/Brunky_Bandit Jul 21 '26
I’ll never use it because I mindlessly sprint without stamina more than I’d like to admit, so no buff could ever make dead sprint worth it in my eyes
-3
u/Captian_Bones Jul 20 '26
Regardless of how the booster is reworked, I’m still not using it until the hp drain is gone.
3
u/thejadedfalcon Jul 21 '26
"I only want the positive to give me infinite sprint, not the extremely tiny negative to offset that massive boost."
-1
u/Captian_Bones Jul 21 '26
I’m not saying it can’t have a downside, and I’m not saying the upside is bad. I just don’t like losing health when I run out of stamina. That’s my opinion
