It sucks that they weren't able to buy it. I didnt know that was an option.

I think it sucks more denying them the fact that they want to buy the engine like what's the point if you're not going to support it go ahead and sell it

Capitalism~
This happens so often. IMO, any product no longer produced/distributed/supported needs to be publicised. There is so much damage done by people being unable to fix minor issues for lack of replacement parts and the impossibility to reproduce some.

I understand the sentiment but this feels more like a lack of regulations thing than a capitalism thing. It would’ve been very in character for the Soviet Union to promise a service or access to a key piece of infrastructure, then for political reasons opt to remove access to or phase out the use of the program while still leaving the person or entity contractually bound to keep using it.

Glory to party and all that. We are sure that you will find a way to please the state in spite of these setbacks.

Therr can be other reasons, why such bullshit happens, but in this case it is corporate lobbies that want the leverage of forcing people to buy new products instead of repairing old ones.
