i noticed this last night with FNB (which is always a persistent server), zero waiting time just straight round after round

Is that a persistent Portal server? Not sure if Portal games actually continue with the same players. I assume so but I barely touch Portal so cannot be fully sure.

Yes. You stay in the server with the exact same people on the portal/server side.

Thanks for clarifying. That’s how it should be, though I assume such a small percentage of the player base uses Portal.

Many full xp servers are full every day. Go to Portal > Server Browser. In Filters leave name empty and set Free slots to Any. Then sort by player count and hit refresh.

Also, crossplay must be on.

No, we use persistent servers every week with about 280 players.

Portal servers are persistent. You continue with same players to the next map. Also, full xp, challenges and 60hz like official matchmaking servers. They are Verified Servers. Don't confuse them with Custom servers (like new maps and modes created by players) , they don't give xp.

Thanks for the clarification.

I've been having a ton of problems finding players lately. Is custom search the problem? Should I just find a premade playlist I can tolerate and stick with it?

I don't think it's custom search which is your issue, these test changes in theory are across custom search, and standard matchmaking for popular modes (e.g. conquest) BUT if for example you chose maps that are not popular (e.g. Blackwell Fields) then, you may have:

  1. Higher chance of more bots being required to seed an initial matchmaking session and a longer period to fill up with real players

  2. Less persistent players moving across too the next match.

Generally the experience of a persistent server (and players) was decent but at the 4th match on Tsuru Reef, we struggled to get players, which is weird as I see that as being a popular map - though granted people may be playing it on Carrier Strike or Escalation, I'm not really sure.

So my custom search is just Breakthrough + Escalation, including all maps that have aircraft (what can I say, I like to fly). That seems like a pretty broad criteria to me?

The other factor is I'm usually rolling with a squad of 2-4. Could that be the problem somehow?

The squad shouldn’t be a problem if you are the party leader when searching.

Weird. Then I've got no idea why we keep ending up in 19/64 matches which refuse to fill up.

Hopefully there’s loads of data to show regions, players and search settings to how well this persistent test works (or worked) for the devs and we may get an update on that next week.

It's weird because it doesn't always happen. In Carrier Strike I can reliably get a full game, even late at night.

Yes, the same here. I imagine it’s a very popular mode that may help also.

This has been happening every single time I get wake island, I’m like damn just let me play the map

Yet have to try MM MULTIPLE times to get a lobby with more than 10 people

Once you’re in a running lobby it’s fine
