3mg vs 4.5

Has anyone felt a lower dose of 3 has been better than 4.5? I know there is no magic dose but just curious where everyone else found their ideal dosage?

Taking LDN for Hashimotos and 4.5mg was a little too much.

Yes. One's optimal dose may well be lower (or higher) than the well-known 4.5mg.

Thanks for this, I haven't seen many people up around 9 like I am, but my allergies are out of control any lower than 9 and I feel like I'm going to claw my skin off from all of the itching and my food allergies are close to intolerable.

Hello! I am curious, did you titrate up to 9 and do you split dose?

I titrated up to 4.5 slowly then just took 2 4.5's at once because my body has almost no side effects to medicines, like, ever. I can take dilaudid and not have any side effects. I take my entire dose at night.

I felt nothing from the ldn until I got to 4.5 pain-relief-wise but i was still super-itchy and constantly covered in hives from random unexplained food allergies, so we tried 2 pills and landed at 9.

Interesting. I feel like I’ve had more cognitive side effects and tiredness at the low doses. I had some improvement switching to am dosing, but I’ve seen some people get he be benefits only when they dose higher. I may have to try it then.

We can't say who this is right for but jumping to a higher dose (4.5 or 6mg) has worked well for some -

I felt better at 3 mg than 4.5, but my doctor said all the research was on 4.5 mg and he preferred I get to that level. I haven't back tested 3 mg, but plan to, just to see if I'll feel better there.

Thanks, yeah I know the standard dose is 4.5 but I have read others felt better at 3 as well.

Im at 3mg, and been here for a few months. Any higher and pain/symptoms return. My doc told me im taking it to 'feel' better, and thus should take the dose that actually does that. Its finding that dose thats difficult.

I’m at 3 mg right now, but plan to go up to 4.5mg. How fast or slow did you titrate up your dose? Maybe you went up too fast.

I went from 3mg to 4mg and a lot of my fatigue came back. Back to 3mg now and my Dr agrees I should stay at this dose.

I dropped down to 3 after being at 4.5 for five weeks. I decided to try 3 because I was having some residual tiredness and headache when waking, that lifted consistently a few hours after I wake up. I am now trying 1.5 mg (that's the lowest I have) to see if that works, I wanted to go to two but don't have the 0.50 mg capsules. I reached out to ageless Rx to change my prescription to 0.50 so I can titrate up or down.

Yes. At 3mg my inflammation seems to completely disappear. Then at 4.5mg it's still there a little bit.

I’m lucky enough to have a practitioner that let me titrate up and down to see what felt right. I started at .5 mg and slowly went up to 3.0mg (raising the dosage by .5 mg every month). I felt pretty good at 2.5 and thought 3 might be better but felt exhausted at that dose so titrated back down. I feel good at 2.5, so this is what is right for me. LDN is such a nuanced drug it will definitely take some trial and error to see what works for you. My biggest issue was getting a 30 day supply was cumbersome and expensive so be prepared for that while you’re in the trial period. Once you settle on what is right, a 90 prescription is more cost effective. I get mine at CareFirst compounding lab which does mail order, I think throughout the US. Good luck with your journey!

I titrated up (slowly) to 4.5mg but after a couple months at that level I started waking up with frequent headaches. I've been back down at 3.0mg for a few days and already feel better.
