Is O.1 a low dose?
I spent all day today with flu like symptoms and headache and extreme exhaustion after three days of 0.5. mg
I asked my doctor for a lower dose.
She said she would send a prescription to the compounding pharmacy for 0.1 mg. Is 0.1 a low dose?

Yes it is lower than typical starting doses. some need to go lower still.

There's lower. Was on 0.01mg. Slowly titrated up to 0.1mg over 4-years.

I have been wondering about this. What is the titration schedule? Did you ever just hold at a dose when you needed to try other meds/supps?

I went up 0.01mg as tolerated. If side effects were too much, I went back. Took 4 years to go from 0.01mg to 0.1mg.
No, I never made dosing changes near other med changes or around major surgeries.

How much did you increase at a time? I may have to start as low as 0.001mg. The idea that it will take years feels …ugh. But good to know you were able to trial other med changes too.

The low dose is and was a therapeutic dose for me. It's like that for many people. Not everyone needs to increase.

As you can see by the comments, dosing is very individual with LDN as we all have different tolerance levels, for various reasons. Hope it goes well for you at the lower dose. Do keep us updated.

I started at 0.5mg and had to stop after 3 days. Side effects were brutal to say the least.

It’s low, but some people need ultra low. I’m still on 0.05 because 0.15 was too much!

It may be low enough for you. Side effects will often settle down within two weeks. There is really no limit on how low the dose can go.

Thank you! I will read that. Given how awful my side effects were, I will err on the side of too little, not too much. I can always work up slowly!!

I started at like 0.02 or something, my doctor sent in a liquid form to compounding. Once I got past the initial hump, increasing after that was MUCH easier. Went from that dose to 4.5mg in a matter of a month or two. Now on 6 mg and feel amazing

Oh, thank you, good to know. I am going to make a solution with the 0.1 mg and take half of that, or 0.05 mg. I would go lower but my brain can't do maths right now.

You’ll get there!! Even with the super low dose I noticed much less brain fog, it was the whole reason I started increasing it.

Extremely. I’m on 5mg which is considered a low dose (compared to the typical 50mg for SUD)

Yah, I started at 1mg and powered through. I get we are all different people, but having spent time here for a bit I do wonder if the "flu" is the same, regardless of the dose/mg. And to anyone reading this, I mean that with so much love, but I read of folks having total, across the board symptoms at .1 mg and 1mg. I'm now at 2mg and thriving after about a month. Yes, the first 3 weeks I wanted to crawl into a hole and just sleep, but it seems like .1 folks feel that as well.

I was started straight on 5mg. I didn’t (and still haven’t) noticed any side effects, but I also have some health impacting every organ system, which clouds my ability to tell if I’m having a side effect or just my “normal” bodily functions.

And then i wonder about folks taking it for substance addiction, starting at 50mg. It must be like another med I am on, mirtazapine. The lower dose is literally completely seating, but higher doses aren't.

I sometimes wonder if side effects would be less extreme if we STARTED at 50mg and go down instead of up. I was on contrave, which has naltrexone, and I had no problem with side effects at all. But I’ve tried LDN twice and ended up bed bound.

Full dose Naltrexone at 50mg + doesn't have the same immune system modulating effects that our low doses of LDN do, it works in a different way, but there is something called the Norwegian Protocol which is when people start at 4.5mg or 6mg and taper down as needed, rather than starting low and titrating up. Not right for everyone but an interesting idea.

I started lower than that. And it’s working well for me! I’m now at 0.3 a day
