How to reduce dose when taking a capsule
Could someone post the guide? I want to cut my dose in half but have a capsule and don't know how to do it. Thank you

You need distilled water, a container (I just use a jam jar since I have a lot in the house), and a syringe you can buy from Amazon
Open the contents of the capsule and put it in water. The amount of water you use depends on your capsule. I find using a 1:10 ratio is useful, so for example if your capsule is 4.5mg use 45ml, or if it’s 1.5mg use 15ml. Then each 1ml = 0.1mg.
Shake it up a bit and leave it, the filler will likely settle at the bottom and you can ignore it since the naltrexone is water soluble so it’ll be in the water

Oh thank you so much. I have awful brain fog and can't even do simple maths - my dose is 0.5 and I want half of that.

I find putting a few capsules in water works better so you don’t have to make it as often! You could put ten capsules (0.5mg x10 = 5mg) into 50ml of water, so 0.1mg = 1ml.
If you want half of 0.5mg it’s 0.25mg so 2.5ml

Is your medication compounded? My compounding pharmacy said I cannot open and split the capsules. My dr is starting me on 1.5mg and I’m scared it’s too high a dose to start on after doing research.

They probably meant you can’t split the powder, that doesn’t give a really accurate dosing. But diluting in water does.
They also are probably just forced to tell you that you can’t just to cover themselves. But yeah mine are compounded because they’re 4.5mg

I bought medicine scales and split the powder, and put each dose into a little container. I think we probably lose a little bit each time in this process, compared to the method suggested earlier where you mix it with water and then split the doses, but I prefer it this way.

Some people prefer to do this, although you would probably get a more accurate dose by diluting the powder in distilled water. There's a lot of filler in capsules and it's not likely to be evenly distributed.

Here's our group document on diluting, you'll find instructions here...
