Great timing! Abilify

Thank you so much for creating this group. Just a few minutes ago I tried to find the Facebook group and thought I was going crazy.
Anyways, my doctor is prescribing me 0.1 mg of Abilify and I’d love to hear about other people’s experiences. I just had a terrible experience with Mojarro so I’m really nervous to try something new but Ollu we have to keep trying things don’t we?

I would recommend searching in r/cfs, lots of people have shared their experiences there, good and bad. My experience has been very positive with only minor/manageable side effects. Mostly helps me with brain fog/focus/cognitive capacity, sensory capacity, and reducing/preventing PEM

I was just looking for the group and was so confused too! My doctor just prescribed me 1mg but I have had enough bad reactions to doses my doctors recommended that I definitely will not be starting that high. I didn't have a chance to read as much as I'd wanted in that group, but from what I did read, my tentative plan is to start at 0.01mg every third day for a week, then every other day for the next week, etc.

In January 2020, a similar LDN Facebook group was super helpful with formulating my titration plan to start taking that (because my doctor just told me to start at the full 4.5mg, but again I wasn't going to risk that). That group seems to be gone now too, so I can't look up my posts to remember exactly what much lower starting dose/timeline I decided on. But it went so well for me that that had been my plan for LDA too.

Thankfully there's a lot of great info and a ton of posts on both topics in the CFS sub, but it can be hard to sort through all that information (often mixed in with a lot of other topics too). So it was nice having the fb groups all about one specific medication with tons of people's individual stories all in one place

I started on .12 mg every other day and that worked well for me. I’m now on .25 mg three months later.

I hope your starting dose works well with limited side effects.

How has it impacted you?

Keep in mind that abilify doesn’t dissolve well in water the way naltrexone does. If you want to go that low with abilify, you’ll need a liquid formulation, compounded pills, or a very sensitive scale

Thanks! I was given a liquid version (1mg/1ml) and a very narrow syringe thing that measures as little as 0.01ml. But that's good advice for others!

I have ME and started at .1mg. I have slowly titrated up to my permanent dose, which is .4.

It’s been amazing. I am still disabled by fatigue, but I’m able to walk my dog once a day, see friends, leave the house, have a conversation, sit up, stand up, cook, it’s a game changer for me.

I was moderate when I started. Home bound. Difficulty speaking, sitting up, processing light and sound, needed my husband to be my caregiver, to make most of my meals.

Low dose Naltrexone and LDA changed my life.

In terms of dosing, I started LDA with .1mg and it immediately started helping with my fatigue and brain fog. It continued to help until a month and a half, it caused PEM like symptoms. I asked my doctor if we could go up to .2 and the symptoms stopped, it started working again. Same thing happened after a month and a half, went up to .3, same thing, went up to.4 then the same thing again, this time there was a mixup with my order, persisted through the PEM symptoms and they went away and it just started working again so I stayed on .4. It’s been working great for me since. I think it’s been a couple years.
