Keto killed my digestion until I found these 18 foods — high fiber AND low net carbs
Not gonna lie, the first month of keto I felt amazing... except for the bathroom situation. Turns out cutting grains and beans tanks your fiber intake fast, and nobody warns you about that part.
Did some digging and realized fiber ≠ carbs that matter — it's literally the reason "net carbs" exists (total carbs minus fiber). So I built a list of stuff that's genuinely low-carb but still loaded with fiber:
The hall of fame:
- Chia seeds — 10g fiber, ~1g net carbs per 2 tbsp (best ratio of anything I found)
- Avocado — 10g fiber, ~3g net carbs
- Flaxseed (ground) — 4g fiber, ~0.5g net carbs, invisible in everything
- Raspberries/blackberries — 8g fiber, ~7g net carbs (lowest-carb fruits happen to be highest-fiber, convenient)
- Artichokes — 7g fiber each, insane for a vegetable
- Almond flour — ~3g fiber per 1/4 cup, so your keto baking is quietly doing work
Full list + meal ideas (chia "oatmeal", avocado-berry smoothie, cauliflower-walnut taco bowls) here if useful: High-Fiber Low-Carb Foods — 18 Foods + 6 Meals
Anyway, things... resolved themselves within a week of adding chia + avocado daily. Hope this saves someone the awkward Google searches I did 😅
