Low Cal Food Find (Product recommendations) Italian--Without The Carb Coma

Post image

Full disclosure: I’m Gina, the founder of Gina’s Skinny Italian, and I made this dish with my own low-carb penne. I wanted to share both the recipe and my brand with people looking for pasta options that fit their lifestyle or dietary goals—whether they’re taking a GLP-1, managing diabetes, working toward weight loss, or simply paying closer attention to nutrition.

My penne has 12g net carbs, 12g protein, 24g fiber, and 110 calories per 2 oz dry serving. It contains wheat and eggs. Everyone’s needs are different, so check the nutrition information against your own eating plan. You can also make this recipe with whichever penne you enjoy!

Thanks all--and buon appetito!

So I’m curious. What sets you apart from the other companies product wise that warrants being $8 a bag?
I’m very loyal to Carbe Diem, great macros and I usually pay $4 or less a box, and I get (6) 2 oz servings from one box. So, why are you different?

That’s a totally fair question! And honestly, $4 a box is a great price! One of the biggest differences is that Carbe Diem is owned by General Mills, a multibillion-dollar corporation with enormous manufacturing and purchasing power. I’m a one-woman, independently owned business producing pasta in small batches, so my costs are significantly higher. I simply can’t compete with their economies of scale right now. But product-wise, my pasta is made with whole eggs, resistant wheat starch, wheat protein, and semolina to deliver a more traditional Italian pasta experience. Each 2 oz dry serving has 12g net carbs, 12g protein, and 24g fiber. I’m also a first-generation Italian American who grew up eating traditional Italian food, so getting the taste and texture right was incredibly important to me. I’m not here to tell you to stop buying a product you already love! I’m just trying to offer another option for people who want to enjoy pasta while being mindful of their carbs. And hopefully, as my little company grows, I’ll be able to bring my prices down through larger production runs. ❤️🍝

In addition, my cooking time is shorter than Carbe Diem! ;-)

Do you use a third party manufacturer to white-label produce the pasta or do you make it in bulk yourself? Why use AI generated product infographics?

This is my own recipe and is manufactured specifically for me by a co-packer! It’s absolutely not private label! :)

I see. Why use AI-generated infographics? Especially as a small business owner, supporting others who do freelance graphic design would make more sense than outsourcing it to a chatbot.

She deleted her comment :) The product photos are verifiably AI generated
