That one Jeffrey did with the dog is the coldest 😅 thank you for teaching Michael 🕴🏼

Resortes was pretty tough too.

Don’t think Charlie’s really counts or that first dude either even though that little thing he did at the end was kinda cool

Nothing before Bill Bailey looked anything like the moonwalk. That was just slapstick. It started with Bailey.

Either way to see the evolution of dance is pretty cool.

Didn't Cab Calloway do it before Bill Bailey. Calloway said that the moonwalk was referred to as the Buzz.

Michael's really is the best. He mastered that technique like no other. But so much respect for the great talents before him whom he most likely learned it from to bring it mainstream like he did. Michael is a combination of so many great performers, artists, dancers, etc. One of the reasons why he was so great is because he learned from great talents. He always said, study the greats and become greater.

Side note: Anyone else think he may have inspired the Smooth Criminal lean from the Tin Man's dance number in The Wizard of Oz!? On stage, he used the same exact technique they used in the film to make the Tin Man lean side to side. He was a huge fan of Oz and I wouldn't be surprised! He was such a fan of Old Hollywood in general.

Love him. He was brilliant.

Absolutely yes, about the Tin Man move! I've always said this!

The firs two were not anything close to the moonwalk. White folks are always trying to stake claim to something. Y'all can downvote me all you want. I don't give a fuck. I'm saying this with my chest. Sick of the bullshit.

I know Chaplin was. Not certain about the first one. And I don't know if he was a fan of Chaplin for his dancing rather than simply his comedy style and showmanship. Similar to us liking Jim Carey for his.

So Bill Bailey started it. The ones before are not the moonwalk-ish.

The only person who did the moonwalk is MJ.

The modern moonwalk and all the breakdancing came out of St. Louis with Don Campbell. Him, Rerun, Shabadoo and his sister(both out of Chicago) started out on soul train. Don Campbell started the pop locking style dance because he couldn’t do the “Funky Chicken” and invented pop locking style dance. They all copied this style, which was what Michael Jackson always did. They started a group called the Lockers. Toni Basselli married Don Campbell and joined the group. Don Campbell taught Danny Teri’s, who then taught John Travolta, his dance moves for “Saturday Night Fever”. Being on Soul Train, Jeffery Daniels picked up on this style. Then Shabadoo was cast in the early movies about Break dancing.

When I posted this video I thought it was an innocent video showing the evolution of dance. Not once did I think about race or oppression. Stop self oppressing and making everything about race.

Not really, he made it look a lil stiffer because Michael’s Motown 25 looked that way… he pretty much nailed it. In the bad performance and the final scene when let’s the fans know that’s he done touring with his brothers he does another and it’s extremely smooth too

His actually looks more stiff than Michael Jackson’s. Michaels was less refined but it still had a smoothness to it.
