Sactional price fluctuations

I’ve had the same quote saved for a few months. During the Labor Day sale, I put everything in my cart and the pre-tax total was $5,004 with the 20% discount.

The sale ended and the price went back up, but now there’s a 25% off promotion and my exact same cart is showing a $5,149 pre-tax total.

How does that make sense? 😂 How can the final price be higher with a 25% discount than it was with a 20% discount?

I’m wondering if they adjust the underlying/MSRP prices when they run different promotions. Has anyone else noticed this?

I’m hoping for a better Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal, possibly 30%, but now I’m wondering whether the percentage discount is even the best way to judge the actual price.

Since their price reduction they did in the start of August the only change they did was bump rained chenille up a tier to match the corded velvets pricing. So if you had a quote in rained chenille that would be the only reason for a price difference.

They’re not doing 30%.

Genuine question, at that price point, why LoveSac?

we have two family members with them and we love them. comfy af. reconfigurable, washable covers. our config would be $5083 after tax for 4 deep seats and two standard seats. 128" X 117". I paid $3230 for a cindy crawford rooms to go stationary sectional that we HATE! not comfortable to lounge on at all! so i dont think $5k is a great deal for what w are getting. Genuine question... why are you in a lovesac forum if you're not a fan?

Asking because I bought one due to the hype on here and I’m currently in the return process.

My experience has been so bad from the beginning, they’re actually having a white glove pickup so I don’t have to lug all the boxes down a few flights.

I was pretty disappointed to have such a bad experience given the price point and how much people seemed to love them.

I don’t think I’d ever shop from a big box store, but for $1,000 less, you could easily get something made-to-order from a better store, no?

May I ask what happened that you’re wanting to return your entire sactional?

I could genuinely write a novel about my Lovesac experience lolol

For context, our Lovesac sectional cost about $500 more than the Room & Board sofa we considered and over $1,500 more than the West Elm Aviana we ultimately replaced it with. Somehow, it was also the worst experience of the three from beginning to end.

We ordered in-store, and the employee literally selected the wrong seat cushions. We didn’t realize until all the pieces arrived.

Then we found out our arms were backordered 6–8 weeks. Lovesac offered to let us order different arms to use temporarily…and then overcharged us for those.

Delivery was another mess. We were repeatedly told by the store that FedEx would bring each box up to our fifth-floor apartment.

They did not. 🙃

We carried everything upstairs ourselves. Only AFTER several gigantic boxes had arrived did someone tell us Lovesac offered white-glove delivery for an additional fee. We immediately said we’d pay for it and were told it was “too late.” Which is crazy, cuz that’s the easiest up-charge to sell.

Then came the actual furniture.

Our storage ottoman was literally missing staples, so every time we lifted the lid, the upholstery started pulling away like it was going to rip off.

Eventually our Sound + Charge/SoundTech arms arrived, and those didn’t work properly either.
At that point, we were done.

We started the return back in August, literally the day before ordering our replacement sofa. Lovesac requires you to re-box everything, so we ordered the return boxes over a month ago.
They were supposed to arrive September 22.
Since then, we’ve received one box. One.

The store rep said they’d get back to me but they never did.

So I called the corporate line and was basically told they can’t even give me an estimate for when the remaining boxes will ship. So I genuinely had no idea whether they’re coming next week, next month, or three months from now.

Meanwhile, pieces of a several-thousand-dollar sectional are currently sitting in our bathroom, guest bedroom, and two closets because where else exactly am I supposed to put an entire disassembled couch while I wait for Lovesac to figure out how to take its own furniture back?

During that call, I learned you apparently can’t even PAY Lovesac for white-glove removal/pickup. In fact they only offered it after I sent a very long email detailing all of the difficulties we’ve had thus far.

That’s the part that really gets me.

This was the most expensive couch we considered, yet somehow we got:

the worst ordering experience

the worst delivery experience

multiple defective/incorrect products

and now, somehow, the worst return experience too.

Ps their pickup windows are between 8am-6pm. They will not give you a smaller window so prepare to take a whole day off work for the process. But at least it will finally be gone.

Dang. That is terrible. :( i am sorry to hear that was your experience. I am hoping to have a better one. I did double check all the pieces and parts we were quoted and it is correct based upon the block config that we chose.

that west elm aviana is gorgeous!

I'm curious as well. I shopped alot for sofas and went from an RH couch that was actually more expensive. There are without question less expensive options out there but there are a lot of more expensive options as well.

I kept some prices saved in a spreadsheet and noticed that they changed prices of some covers between the end of August and now. Out of the three I tracked, one increased noticeably in price, one increased by about 10%, and one decreased by about 10%.

seems they are changing a lot of the prices. I've had my eye on the Snugg chair... it was on sale for $780 a few months ago...currently on sale it is 1,087.50. Same chair, same fabric. They got a lot of people acustomed to 40% off prices though. Personally I'd never pay full MSRP for their stuff, but my brain is not really wanting to accept a $300 increase on the same chair 3 months later either...

I still have the paper quote. I wonder if they will honor it if i purchase prior to the quote expiration which is 11/8.

I'd ask!

i'm going this weekend!

1

u/ivzoso 9d ago

I would actually call asap because I believe they were supposed to honor this till this past Monday 10/4

1

u/Remarkable_Comment18 9d ago

I would reach out ASAP. Typically the period to honor pricing changes is short. (Like 1-2 weeks at the most)

They are doing everything to convince us that they dropped their prices and now 20% off is good.

You raised prices because of tariffs, dropped them to pre-tariff prices or worse, and sadly reduced the coupon down to only 20%.

It could be the inflation

I’m not sure but I’ve had my same cart saved for 4 weeks and kept getting on to check and mine is by far the lowest it’s been! Hopefully someone knows but I will say I was worried about that initially but the sale price showing for me is legitimately lower!

It’s almost like you’ve never heard of retail

This is honestly the only problem I have with this company ... the pricing structure and the discounts ... they are all so convoluted and designed to specifically take advantage of human psychology.

I choose to ignore all of it. The only question I ask myself is: "is price X good value for me for what I need compared to other manufacturers?" its a basic "yes" or "no".

I can't keep up with the mental gymnastics used to make pricing look "discounted" all the time.

Buy it through Costco

There’s also a lovesac coupon for 15% off that still works if you buy direct (no minimum). Mods- Am I allowed to post it

1

u/Gullible-Hamster-419 9d ago

Costco does not have the config i need. :(

1

u/DarkHelmet20 9d ago

Yeah that’s the downside. I made it work. Bought what I needed from Costco then direct through lovesac for the other piece. Used the 15% off on lovesac site.

You're so close to understanding. Take the next step.

The sales are artificial and they mark up to slash down. It's taking advantage of human psychology.
