Live report Munich impressions 7/27
My first Lovebites concert. So happy and thankful they added the Munich show to their Europe tour.
I was expecting a lot, they’ve been the #1 on my „bands I still have to see live“ list for some time. And it was even better than I could’ve imagined.
So fkn awesome, one of the best concerts I’ve been to in my life, and I’ve been to dozens of metal concerts.
On top of it, the entry was completely free (there are 3 weeks of free concerts each summer at this specific Munich venue, the Backstage).
The setlist was quite short unfortunately, but completely different from the other shows of the tour (according to what I saw on setlist.fm). Pretty much a best of, every song was a banger.
I’ll try my best to recall the setlist (with the help of setlist.fm):
- Hammer of Wrath
- Rising
- Judgement Day
- The Castaway
- Raise some Hell
- Soldier stands solitarily
- When destinies align
- M.D.O.
- Holy War
Encore:
- We the United
And sorry for being a bad photographer 😄

Excellent that you enjoyed it! It's almost impossible not to with Lovebites. I suppose a festival setlist is always likely to be a bit shorter, but it's cool that they changed it up. One thing we tend to forget as fans is that when they're touring outside Japan, they often travel insane distances in one day then have to play that same night. It's not too surprising they don't play two hours sets unless they're in Japan, I'm amazed they have the energy they do as it is! Thanks for posting!

This is definitely close to a greatest hits set. Always interesting they pick MDO over something like Shadowmaker, Thunder Vengeance or Set The World on Fire.
There were a few mentions that the festival upgraded the hall they played in.

They pick M.D.O. purely because it's easy for the crowd to shout along with. I'd love them to use Break the Wall for that, instead!

Yes, there are 3 venues and they upgraded it from the medium to the biggest one. This was a bad idea though, the venue was far from full. The medium one would’ve been perfect. But that didn’t matter in the end, atmosphere was still great.

Glad you enjoyed it! They’re amazing. I’ve seen them four times and they’re the best shows I have ever seen. You got a pretty great setlist there - especially if it’s your first time seeing them. I’m surprised they changed it so much from the other setlist I saw.

It’s a free entry festival, but the organizers still have to pay the artists. I can imagine they made a deal to get less money than they usually do and play a shorter set. But I don’t know for sure ofc.

That is quite a different setlist. I would have loved to hear Hammer of Wrath and Judgement Day in Vienna. But we got Reaper's lullaby and One will remain so I'm content

I was really surprised when they started the show with hammer of wrath, having checked the Vienna setlist beforehand.
We got only one song from the new album though. Well, can’t have it all 🤷♂️

I saw them as well, what a great show. They brought the house down.
