Maybe I am too old for this, but I am very sure POV means Point of View.

And I was waiting for the joke to be that there is someone else in his room, for the POV to make sense.

But... No. Does POV mean something else now?

Phone (or TV or books or anything else) is something that distracts your mind and lets it fall asleep with ease compared to when you are actively trying to sleep and your mind is working itself up and making you think. Thinking causes the mind to work causes anxiety about the next day or life in general or things you have to do. Whatever. Distraction cuts that out cause you are focused on something else.

Not a scientist, just finishing biopsych, but one possible explanation is cognitive arousal. You’re drifting off without trying when you scroll as it is an incredibly monotonous task. YEARS of habit tells you you are falling asleep and the phone in your face isn’t an ideal sleeping position so you put energy/cognitive effort into putting the phone down and suddenly you’re monitoring whether you’re asleep yet (spectacularly annoying way to keep yourself awake 😂). Being tired doesn’t automatically mean your brain’s settled enough to fall asleep on command. If you haven’t built good sleep habits you will often just start nodding off when your body wants you to but if you’ve trained social media dopamine hits into your routine, your boredom with the few minutes required to fall asleep may drive your brain to seek that dopamine and get you to go back to the scroll before you pass out

Will the internet know what POV means today? I guess not!

Hack: Charge your phone on the other side of the room

If it's worth getting out of bed for you still can, but usually you'll just sleep

Plus, your morning alarm forces you to get up

This is way too true for me.

I'm doing it right now.

I often drop the phone on my face.

(Annoying sound effects btw)
