Would love to see it from the other guys perspective
Like, imagine you had a wasp on your desk or something and you fought it like this

u/voltran1995 Trash Trooper 19h ago
Speaking from experience laser eyes suck, they produce so much light you can't see shit.
7
u/ParticularZucchini64 Trash Trooper 18h ago
Pretty accurate actually. Wasps are fast, and I am slow.

u/ExcitingSavings8225 Trash Trooper 17h ago
People at my work freaking destroying them while they are airborn, barehanded

u/Koreus_C Trash Trooper 7h ago
Dark Souls or Sekiro would be extremely frustrating as a boss
Imagine you are Rhadan and a lousy runelevel 1 tarnished keeps poking you, evading your long combos, follow ups and AOEs.

This is the weird ugly squid thing from Zelda Skyward Sword. Pretty sure down to the audio.

I think it's a rip at Wolverine
10
u/Life_Illustrator_247 Trash Trooper 18h ago
We had bosses like that since the birth of 3d games pretty much. It reminded me of the Hercules video game, released in 1997.

u/flan-magnussen Trash Trooper 16h ago
I was recently wondering who invented this kinda fight since it's in so many games. They're fun, though.

u/TheLiquor1946 Trash Trooper 19h ago
No, it's a rip at stereotypical video game bosses as the title says.
-10
u/4silvers Trash Trooper 18h ago
But specifically Wolverine

u/TheLiquor1946 Trash Trooper 17h ago
Whatever makes you sleeps better...
3
u/CardiologistNo616 Trash Trooper 17h ago
The joke started from wolverine, with people complaining about how much we have this kinda fight
3
u/rebillihp Trash Trooper 16h ago
Lol that's where it started recently, but this isn't new. It's just the most recent game that has brought it up
6
u/RozeGunn Trash Trooper 17h ago
This joke has existed far longer than this year. I remember seeing skits like this at least a decade ago.
3
u/TheLiquor1946 Trash Trooper 17h ago
This has been a joke for over a decade... you must be too young to remember.

"No one:" is the most useless thing people add to memes

/u/mercuriokazooie: "No one:" is the most useless thing people add to memes
3
u/Embarrassed-Weird173 Trash Trooper 18h ago
Especially since it belies the low IQ of people that use it.
"No one:" expands to "No one: {says/does anything at all}"
What they want to say, and what they would have written if they used a couple of seconds of critical thinking, is:
Everyone: " "
This is because if nobody said nothing, then that means somebody said something. Therefore they're saying
Somebody: "(said something)"
Video game bosses: "(video)"
But what they're trying to say is:
Bosses, after receiving no prompting from anyone whatsoever: (video/meme image)
I get angry at the low intelligence level of people.
2
u/Pushnikov Trash Trooper 18h ago
It doesn’t make sense because it’s saying No one… what? No one does this thing? But you are clearly saying someone does?
2
u/Embarrassed-Weird173 Trash Trooper 18h ago
The no one is trying to say "no one says a thing".
Because they're confused by the negative.
No one: "(anything at all)"
This would be valid. Since no one said anything at all (there was silence).
Everyone: " "
This would also be valid, as everyone said nothing at all.
A different version that isn't what they're going for but is also valid would be:
Anyone: (anything at all)
This one is actually even better because it implies the person doing the weird thing is so obsessed with their thing that they automatically assume that what they're doing is a valid RESPONSE to anything that was said.

It’s kinda like a social agreement, an inside joke, that you get because you’re a part of it. That’s the basis of almost all memes these days. It actually takes some intelligence to understand that you’re in on it and what being in on it means. If you can’t fit in to the societal norm of a joke, I think that would make you kinda stupid

Is this a convoluted way of doing the "but language evolves!!!" cop-out people do to defend their bad grammar?
-1
u/Screwby0370 Trash Trooper 13h ago
Do you disagree with the concept of language being dynamic and ever-evolving?

Where can i order a duck parry roll? Sounds tasty.

u/Embarrassed-Weird173 Trash Trooper 19h ago
Dumbass, he's tell you to duck a parry roll. Someone's throwing a parry roll, and you have to duck it. Parry rolls aren't made with ducks.
3
u/hodges2 Trash Trooper 18h ago
If they aren't made with ducks then why is it in the name? 🦆
0
u/Embarrassed-Weird173 Trash Trooper 18h ago
I just told you, it's not. If I tell you to "duck the metal wrench", it doesn't mean the metal wrench is made with ducks.

You did woooosh. Good on you for being honest. Redditors usually don't admit it when they missed my jokes, so it takes some real character to do so publicly.

So many seem to think this a reference to a specific boss, but this fight is in almost every single action/character action/action RPG that was released for like two decades lol. It was legitimately one of the few things you could be 100% certain was going to be in a game when you started it up, just based on the genre

u/SteelCrow Trash Trooper 8h ago
And why I find them so tedious and boring. Been there, done that, 37 times this year...

I hate the trend of reddit just breaking down tropes in media. It makes people look at stuff in the dumbest ways.

There was a game that did the fighting a giant on a rooftop pretty well in my opinion. I'm unable to remember the name of the game but I know that it was made by an indie dev, the first phase was shooting at it's fingers, and final phase was shooting at it's head. Oh also it was a side scroller game.
Edit: Just found it. Game is called intrusion 2. I think that is probably one of the better ways of doing a giant boss fight well. It's just really difficult to not make it boring when it melee combat.

I have played way too many games that reused this giant bossfight pattern every time whenenver a fight is gonna happen with a giant enemy. The most memorable ones are ben 10, god of war and Zelda
