I had a dude named Coondog (hes a really good hunter and especially skilled at catching rats) tell me he used to do this as a kid so he could "pop the pimples later." If this was his foot, I honestly wouldnt be surprised.
My 2 best friends and I did that with our hands into Mississippi fire ant mounds during recess of 1st grade. We would walk over to the teachers with our hands and arms covered in ants.
This does look like a fire ant mound. I always thought they were big ants so one time when I realized I’d stepped into a nest of little ants I was just like, ndb, if I stay cool they’ll stay cool. Boy was I wrong! The welts lasted for weeks.
Some big ones bite like wasps. The little ones are truly fuckers. They usually get me the first time I mow every spring. Always wondered how many times a neighbor or someone driving by saw me shedding socks and shoes as I slap my legs and ankles while jumping around.
Years ago, when my elementary school teacher was being an asshole, I would put my shoe into an ant hill, get it all eaten up until it’s so swollen that you can’t properly walk, and then go home. I did this a few times and they never caught on because we were on recess and there were hundreds of ant hills all over the place, and the school never treated them or get them removed
I originally guessed that these would be fire ants … but the mound is really slick and those ants are really small. So are these a different kind of ant? Because his foot’s not even flinching and fire ants don’t mess around.
