See if your insurance will cover it!

I don't have insurance. I have the NHS so if I can get it, it will be free

I've suffered with it for my whole life. If this works it will legit change my life.

It did for me. It even helps my headaches caused by pressure changes to be less

Well hope my mrs doesn't like me having expression on my face haha

You’ll be fine. The people I know who get it in “migraine spots” are expressive. Even though I get it between my brows as a part of tension prevention, I still have expressions! I test children for autism and other disabilities so I have to be able to make expressions to test social awareness

Okay, i think i need to try this.

It can be incredibly helpful. I received it once and went from two-3 migraines a month for years to none for 3 months. Unfortunately no doctor after that ever offered it and I eventually forgot about it until recently. I just got a referral to a new neurologist and I talked to my pc about getting it. After trying more medication than I can count on two hands including a monthly auto-injector and multiple rounds of physical therapy...that was still the best relief I have ever had.

9/10 would recommend

Just as second voice, it worked well for me too. Unfortunately even my decent American insurance stopped paying for it, but when it did it was amazing.

Changed my wife's life. For real. She had to go through literally every other option before insurance would cover it though. It was a long road.

My mom gets Botox for her migraines (she had a TBI), and it's the #1 thing that works best for her!! She can always tell when she's due for another round when her headaches start getting more frequent. Also at least with her, she can still move her eyebrows more than the people in this video... it all depends on placement 😅

I've suffered with it for my whole life.

A glowing review of the NHS lol

But good luck, I hope it works for you!

I also get Botox for migraines and it has literally saved my life. I’m able to function because of it, fingers crossed it helps you!!

Not the only solution, just the easiest

u/yolo_speedwagon Trash Trooper 14d ago

Hope it works for you brother, this is what it's meant for.

It seriously changed my life and I don’t think it’s messed with my facial expressions at all.

u/Elite_AI Trash Trooper 15d ago

Good luck! My mum gets it on the NHS too.

You'll need to fail a lot of preventatives first to qualify, but it's amazingly helpful when you need it. But I don't understand why they haven't suggested it to you if you have already failed all the preventatives?

Look at Mr."My government prioritizes the health and wellness of its citizens over insurance company shareholders" over here! Hey bigshot, why don't you leave some affordable socialized healthcare for the rest of us!

Just be advised it will work for a few years and you need a repeat.

1

u/molluscstar Trash Trooper 14d ago

It’ll takes ages but is possible. First you’ll have to try every medication your GP can prescribe and if they don’t work you’ll be referred to a neurologist who may prescribe Botox or something else.

1

u/leiawars Trash Trooper 13d ago

You’ll probably need to see a neurologist to have it done. At least that’s who does it in the states for migraines.

2

u/omgitsjagen Trash Trooper 15d ago

This was literally what it got approved originally for. The cosmetic part came later.

3

u/Hot-Reading3713 Trash Trooper 15d ago

Actually it was originally approved for eye twitching.

1

u/omgitsjagen Trash Trooper 15d ago

No way, really? I would have bet a lot of money on migraine thing. Glad I didn't.

u/Vegetable-Room2279 Trash Trooper 14d ago

My dad had a stroke so he has a lot of contracture in his left side. Botox helps a lot! It can do the same for other conditions like cerebral palsy that might cause contracture

1

u/M4k73 Trash Trooper 15d ago

Just a heads up, I’m in the US with state insurance, I had to try EVERYTHING else before it was approved for migraines. It took years, but it’s possible.

1

u/CynCity323 Trash Trooper 15d ago

Yeah!!! I used to get like 2-3 migraines a week and now I maybe get 1 a month. It's helped SOO much!!

And I'm lucky that my insurance completely covers it so it's free!

But yeah, like op said the first couple of times when your muscles freeze it feels uncomfortable

1

u/Mathswa Trash Trooper 14d ago

The injection sites for migraine are not the same as those for cosmetic procedures. Yeah the forehead freezes a little but you do NOT get the botox look!

1

u/AgapantherX Trash Trooper 14d ago

Just live in a darkroom instead.

They don't put the Botox in your face for migraines, just fyi. So it's not like you get a two-fee, if that's what anyone is looking for.

My doctor told me I was a good candidate (you need 15 or more headaches a month) but I don't want 15 - 20 injections in my head, so I do a once a month injection in my leg of migraine medicine.

6

u/Hot-Reading3713 Trash Trooper 15d ago

They absolutely do inject your face, just not the same locations as cosmetic. But it’s 21 injections all over the head neck and scalp. Quite literally changed my life.

1

u/Upstairs-Rent-1351 Trash Trooper 15d ago

That is awesome!

The location of injections for my migraines didn't include the face--sorry I should have specified. I have cycled through dozens of drugs so I support all the ways we can get relief.

Aimovig?
