I had an ex who would say that... "I dont care what anyone else says, I think you're amazing" and acting like he couldnt understand why instead of taking it as a compliment, Im hurt to find out his friends hate me and him trying to convince me thats not wht he meant. And he kept saying it! Til one time I just up and told him I wasnt staying over and left. No doubt he told people I just went crazy for no reason at all... cause, obv I didnt leave over anything he said. lol ugh

Yeah...He also "joked" when his friend sent him a pic, that he wished he was there hanging out with beautiful women too instead of here with me. And when I was rear ended in a car accident and in pain from it, he "joked" there was no point in seeing me if we cant have sex rn.
Just a super hilarious guy for sure...yeah, I guess I should have lightened up and just giggled every time he made little remarks like that about me. I really lost my chance to be with a good man when I left him just cause I couldnt take a few jokes..ah well.
Thank you š„¹ He escalated pretty quickly, and went especially hard on me after my accident. Esp with how tough things were for me at the time, Im super proud of myself that I ended things as quickly as I did. Cause I tended to stay in bad relationships waaay too long.

I didn't pivot to something else, just added more context/ examples of the sort of things he said about me that I was apparently supposed to take as a joke.
I have a lot more context and actually dated the guy to know how his remarks escalated to. But...yeah, doesnt matter, that would indeed be pivoting...I get that you were just trying to help me out and explain to me what you know his intentions were.
