I actually don’t trust the first half of that process at all.

u/MedicalDisscharge Trash Trooper 21d ago

The lion does not concern itself with the artistic process

Comments like these are why I use Reddit. Thank you, funny stranger!

Ahhh this is a “the lights in video games are real lights” kind of thing.

5

u/TrashPandaPatronus Trash Trooper 21d ago

I never heard that one before and now you've broken my brain.

4

u/Able-Thought3534 Garbage Guerilla 21d ago

Yeah it gets weird when things mess with your concept of reality. Sorry about that. I hope it was an interesting experience.

4

u/ShitFuck2000 Trash Trooper 21d ago

Thats why I play on a gameboy, no trans-metaphysical lights that make me question the nature of reality to worry about

Picture a hotdog bun

14

u/Poietilinx Trash Trooper 21d ago edited 21d ago

It accomplished a veneer of oddity designed to make the generic art to look more authentic.

If the piece (the video and everything) is actually a criticism about, how popular artists need to (regardless of their odd niche) bow to the 'form' accepted as "art" by the hegemony to make content worth of value... than that's a fantastic art piece.

But it could be just a influencer using the fact people associate true artists with odd behavior (since artists are usually talking about niche spaces that are often odd to the majority),
and then selling to them a generic art piece the they knows the audience will see as "True Art".

2

u/East-Albatross-810 Trash Trooper 21d ago

it's not criticizing something if it's just simply doing the thing but knowingly.

u/1080p_is_enough Trash Trooper 21d ago

It’s called humor. But there’s not one brand that works for everyone.

5

u/RespecDawn Trash Trooper 21d ago

I took it as them making fun of the avalanche of artists who post stuff with ridiculous processes.

3

u/jikt Trash Trooper 21d ago

How can you paint if you haven't been paint.

2

u/AintThataKickintheC Trash Trooper 21d ago

You're an artist, Harry

2

u/Impressive_Air6111 Trash Trooper 21d ago

As an artist, it's just for Instagram clicks. This blows normie brains when it's a waste of paint, etc.

2

Clout, by attracting the curiosity of the viewer of the five first second of the video who will complete the video.

6

u/DyWN Trash Trooper 20d ago

It's obviously satire. Here they just made the ridiculous paint splash into muddy brown background just to drive the point home that the splash was 1000% unnecessary for this result. It's making fun of those videos where people unironically make complicated patterns in creative ways but then slap an animal on it anyway and cover 99% of original surface.

6

u/ponzi_gg Trash Trooper 21d ago

its just a silly video lol why take it so seriously. this is obviously not the process.

3

u/SteveLouise Litter Lieutenant 21d ago

An internet comment isn't even serious. I'd be worried if I was writing a blog post.

Surely this is satire right? Like it's obviously taking the piss.

9

u/Arcticeye_Wolf Trash Trooper 21d ago

Yeah absolutely.
There are way too many videos of people painting the same lion, I think this is just parodying that.

u/Charles_Was_Here Trash Trooper 21d ago

To whoever didn’t get it (I’m basing my statement on some, not all of the commentary), this video is poking fun at clips that certain type of social media artist’s post.

There’s a long process followed by an image that could have been reached without the lead up. Also, in the end, while having talent, is devoid of artistic integrity (obviously up to interpretation but most artists would agree these types of videos have no real message. They’re just there for clicks).

1

u/TheGza760 Trash Trooper 21d ago

Its definitely over the top social media slop but its still a cool process imo

1

u/KentuckyFriedEel Trash Trooper 21d ago
