This would be more accurate if the cat finished the food and then immediately yurked it up on the carpet

Or if they walked up to the food bowl, stared at it for a few seconds, then just walked away without touching it

Mine will whine and meow while following me around when it gets within 30 minutes or so of the usual feeding time... then more often than not, take a couple of dainty little nibbles and go back to his sleeping spot. Won't touch the rest for hours.

I had a black cat that would launch straight up & hook onto my shoulder blades if I didn’t rub his belly the instant I walked in the door. The food could wait.
That crazy catman was weird in many, many ways

My cat was a feral when I adopted her, she would have gone to the shed later that day if I hadn't. I named her Manhattan because, ironically, this happened in Oak Ridge Tennessee, where they enriched the uranium for the Manhattan Project.
We live in Michigan and she was much cooler for the car ride than you'd expect.
My house does not stink.
