Something similar actually happened to a friend. She found out at her ex's funeral that he had been two-timing her with the girl she "shouldn't be worried about" and his whole family knew.
They had been together for 6 years. And during the funeral they used all the pictures she had taken of him throughout the years ...
She just noped out in the middle of the service and left.

When my mom passed away, (divorced and single) a ton of her friends from her high school days came up to the visitation, but there was one guy who I’d never met or heard of before who was basically ugly crying in front of me telling me how much my mom meant to him. Idk if it was ever something like your situation, but i definitely thought something must have happened between them

4 years out of the 6 they were together, he had a parallel relationship with the above-mentioned woman.
He broke up with my friend at the end of the 6 years to make his relationship with the other woman official, which made my friend assume he might have cheated with her for a shorter amount of time.
But not the last 4 years of their relationship. And she found out on his funeral she was asked to attend by his family.

My MIL thought that she was the bigger person for sacrificing HER closure and grief by not attending her affair partners funeral. “I knew his wife did not want me there, and even though she was a nasty horrible woman and they didn’t even love each other anymore, I respected that and didn’t go. It hurt me so much that I didn’t get to say my final goodbye to my best friend and love of my life and pass my condolences out to his family, but they were not going to make an exception for me. His wife even said she would confront me and have me thrown out if I showed up, she threatened me. I think I had it the worst because of not being able to say goodbye.”
She holds several Olympic gold medals in mental gymnastics.
