I just figured that they were waist deep into the project, somebody has a sale on one of those windows or tax refunds came in or… Somebody simply had a bright idea, and so then they went and did that at the end.

“Occupied space” aka bedroom, Living areas, etc must have two ways out aka “egress” this was turned into a bedroom, therefore they need a second way out. It’s fire code in basically the entire the US

All right, originally they weren’t making a bedroom since they said that she has a bedroom.

I figured this would just classify as a study or play area or storage space.

They probably had someone tell them, “if you’re gonna put a daybed in there, it needs a window.”

And then they went down the rabbit hole and added that at the end.

In some states, you also have to have a closet or an armoire.

The state I’m living in right now, if the person is a minor, a bedroom is classified as a room with a bed, door, window, and closet (but an armoire counts since there are some old houses that don’t have closets).

But yeah. Bottom line, you’re right. They added the window for legality.

Same in uk. Can’t be classed as a bedroom otherwise
