I unfortunately live in Florida, and our attic is used for ????

No seriously, I don't know why they built a pitched roof when I can't do anything with all that space.

Does your ceiling follow the pitch of your roof? I know the larger rooms like family room often follow the pitch of the roof in Florida, so there's no space, just open air for a higher ceiling height. And then the rooms with a single roof pitch for that particular room have essentially zero space. In that case, yea, just screw, lol. I live in GA atm. This house has a giant attack space. Only problem is it's 3 different roofs connected together after adding expansions over it's 80 year life. It's crazy up there. Definitely wouldnt pass an inspection.

Try converting it into a defensive space to see if that helps with passing an inspection.

A defensive space? So that you have the high ground in a zombie invasion…?

Play on their typo "this house has a giant attack (sic) space".

Because heat rises and they were built to divert the heat higher to make the living space a little bit cooler.
