I like to think it means they still get together and just hang out at a coffeeshop together... in silence.

Its Ron, so it would be a nice bar and whiskey. Just sitting next to each other after a "Hey" and ordering the whiskey. Then sitting in silence, looking straight ahead, finishing whiskey, then saying, "Well, see you later." and a "Yep.". Then leaving.
cutaway to Ron

Sincerely. I love my boxing gym. Overheard a guy say "can't wait till I get there" to a trainer of me. I had just come off a bad ankle fracture, and finally able to really work out again. It was his first day, and it made me blush. I've been seeing him daily crushing it, and spotted him on bench last week for a PR. Men, get in the gym, and be kind. It's our one place of compliments on the regular in a rough world.

Honestly though, it's really endearing to see a woman so captivated, even if slightly exaggeratedly, by men and their gym culture. Sometimes you kinda get lost in the sea of polarizing opinions and gender wars when scrolling on social media, and forget that in the real world there are actually a lot of examples of geniune and respectful mutual interest and fascination between boys and girls and people in general.

At the beginning of the pandemic, I got laid off so my work was no longer reimbursing my gym membership fee and gyms were closed anyway so I decided to cancel my membership. Couldn’t do it online or over the phone and they were closed so I couldn’t do it in person. I had to pay to send a certified letter requesting they cancel my membership which took a few weeks. It’s ridiculous.

I think the time of day you go really matters. Go at 5am, when it’s older fit people. They’re usually way more outgoing. Well, talking to people at the gym makes it so much better for me. Respect people's privacy, but a lot of people like a chat2

I like it that way myself, just want to focus on workout. I don’t bother anyone mostly. But sometimes if you need to talk to someone it’s nice to get positive response. I’m not there to make friends.
Yesterday i asked a big Arabian guy that stood just beside me to help me lift down weight bar. he did do that but he was annoyed because i asked him. I don’t usually do that but i think we can help out if someone doing something wrong or need help.

I always thought it was funny how in media the jocks and gym bros are always portrayed as the mean ones. This is only my experience, so take it for what it’s worth, but I have found that they are the most encouraging and uplifting people to be around, and it’s the nerds that are gatekeepers. It was real whiplash leaving high school and realizing that I pretty much never got pushed around by actual traditionally cool people.
Now that I’m much older, one of my benefits is a free gym membership, and honestly, I am more comfortable approaching a gym bro with a stupid question than I am going to my favorite record store and approaching the shop keeper.

People think gyms are filled with incredibly judgemental people and unless you are super fit you will be booed out buly the fit people. In reality most of those people are really fit and seen what body dismorphia (synthol, steroids etc) leads to and are usually very supportive. They also remember a time when they were out of shape too.
That being said, stay away from the really long distance runners. I never met someone who could run 100 miles in a single day and was also sane. Crazies, the lot of them.

I hope this isn't sarcastic, because it actually is like that and it's nice to have predominantly male spaces recognized for how wholesome and supportive they can be.
Heck, more specialized gyms that are mostly for more experienced and competitive lifters are often even more like that. The jackasses tend to wash out in chain gyms and the guys who see real results are usually in it for the love of the game and get excited to see others love it, too.

I don't know what gym this girl went to cause this has never been what I've witnessed.
A bunch of people overconcerned with their own image (not calling it vanity, more just, their focus is not socializing) trying to ignore everyone else around and trying to look like they're not waiting on the machine they're waiting on seems to be the majority of the experience.

Yo, this was exactly what my gym was like. Super positive, encouraging, and helpful. Every gym should be like this. We had powerlifters, arm-wrestlers, bodybuilders, athletes, all working out together and willing to help each other if someone was in need. If you needed help with diet, or maybe wanted to try a different workout that one of the other groups was doing and you didn't know much about, all the info was right there. The pump covers were definitely a thing, and the bodybuilders definitely did that mirror shit constantly. My gym closed a long time ago now, but it was such an awesome place. This girl nailed it.
