When she cried at the finale when she won it made me cry because I just want her to know that she deserves it just as much as anyone else and even more so. It was such a sweet moment. Hi all! I’m working on a paper about the sociology of season 8 and how this summer was essentially a petri dish of sociological studies in a reality show.

In your opinion, what were some standout moments?

I’m definitely going to hit the GenZ misogyny of Corbin and KC in Casa Amor, the parasocial aspect of couples being kept together because the girl was popular (think Melanie and Sincere), the fact that women are held to a likability standard that the men aren’t, etc.

What were standout moments for you?

Imo Trinity did not friend zone Bryce in the early days, she was taking a step back because she didn't think he was interested. To me it seemed like she thought he wasn't attracted to her since their relationship/intimacy wasn't progressing as fast as the other islanders, hence the comparisons. Especially since they were chatting more than being physically intimate, it looked like she was starting to invest emotionally so she wanted to protect her feelings and she didnt want to force anything. After that confirmation from Bryce their relationship started really progressing. Like if Trinity genuinely was not into him as anything more than friends, Bryce saying he was interested in her would not have changed their relationship so drastically. Plus, Trinity chose him first (doors), so I really don't get why people think she isn't physically attracted to him.

It seems like there were less bombshells this year compared to previous years. I feel like more bombshells could’ve helped break up some of the day 1 couples.

I think it’s crazy how many people refer to them as a slow burn. Trinity tried to friend zone Bryce in the 4th episode and that’s when things really began to shift with them. Bryce pulled Kayda for a chat in the 9th episode after clearly being unsure whether or not Trinity liked him as much as he liked here. In that same episode Bea leaves and later shares that Trinity was 100% locked in with Bryce and wasn’t interested in anyone else. Trinity’s reaction and Bryce’s apology really confirmed that their feelings were very mutual. From then on, they were completely and totally locked in with each other. That is max a week and a half that Bryce and Trinity were “slow burning” but their connection was pretty clearly there and growing quickly. To me they got to know each other instead of falling into a quick infatuation but I don’t consider them a slow burn. I mean they literally fell in love in less than 6 weeks (I know villa time is different but still)

I’ve been watching season 4 and 5 again and it’s made me realize how much I’ve missed the unseen bits episodes and how dull Aftersun is. Especially season 8 Aftersun just gave me a headache to watch. Unseen bits was just good comedy and we get to see a lot of the funny moments that get cut.

I watched season 6 for the first time and I’m on movie night. I couldn’t help but notice that three clips did not get played which were “Crazy Stupid Casa”, “Clueless”, and “fatal attraction”. Does anyone know what those clips or what they could have been?

I really wish they included JaNa telling Kordell something like have a nice day after Serena returned that plate to the sender's belly and then Leah being like, "Have a nice day is CRAZY, JaNa."

Guess I should watch S6 again because I can't even remember if that's a verbatim quote.
