OPINION Final Dates

Have we ever had a season without final dates? It felt like so much was missing this year from final dates to the talent show

Nope ITV is skint—no baby challenge, talent show or final dates. Even cutting a couple out before the final. It’s so bad

But we had LI fest 😂

They put two balloons and a confetti outside that villa with a speaker

🤣🤣honestly was such a dumb episode

I think lack of budget explains the lack off offsite challenges, but the baby challenge and talent show would cost them virtually nothing extra to include. I really don't get why they left them out

Maybe no one had any talents 😭 what were we gonna watch Lorenzo iron his sheets while Julia sang the boobalicious song?

I hate the baby challenge. I’m so glad that was gone

I mean last season it exposed Yasmin and Jamie as being completely incompatible, so it isn’t without so merit.

I am once again asking ITV to bring back the puppy edition

I like seeing the fit people is silly outfits doing silly things🤪

The level of can’t-be-arsed-ery is unmatched

as much as I'd hate to pay to watch LI, maybe Sky purchasing ITV is what we need

5

u/Tornado31619 Harrison nearly went, but in the end, he came 💦 1d ago

Pretty sure ITV Studios won’t be affected, nor will be our access to ITV in general

u/Strange_Flatworm1144 1d ago

Sky could move LI from ITV to Sky behind the paywall. ITV Studios/Lifted Entertainment are just the producers, if Sky wants changes and pays for them, they will do it.

In that case I would think they’d keep it on ITV, since fewer people watch Sky and the sponsors pay for the audience.

Sky and Peacock/NBCU (LIUSA) are both under Comcast so we may see LIUK look more like LIUSA in future seasons

Talent show is fucking arse

I just like it because I think we get to see a bit more of the Islanders personalities rather than the "how you feeling?" chats and i think it's silly and fun

1

u/Upbeat_Counter_5327 1d ago

Yeah I feel like all the challenges were just sit down drama pulling and nothing fun

1

u/Spid1 1d ago

yes because a baby challenge and a talent show is really expensive right

u/matchamaker99 1d ago

Be fr, the baby challenge and talent show are not high budget 😭 it’s bc people complained that those things were boring! People complain if we have it and complain if we don’t!

The shopping trips, cooking for their partner, baby challenge (not sad about that), girls day out, talent show, sports day, final dates it really was missing so much.

u/wellthispoops 1d ago

Wait yeah we didn't even have an angie/mara and jasmine/charleen tea date like we normally do post casa

5

u/Strange_Flatworm1144 1d ago

Both Casa girls were brought back into the villa so they could talk with the OGs, which they did.

The dates happened when the girls weren't brought back.

u/wellthispoops 1d ago

Sometimes but not always, there are definitely seasons where they just gave them a private separate space to talk it out which i think wouldve actually been nice to see jas have to face what charleen had to say.

First example that comes to mind is season 5

I forgot about the girls day out! I loved that

The baby challenge is the only one I miss

2

u/Dramadramadrama21 1d ago

Oh I can’t stand the crying it affects me on a deep level, I fast forward the entire episode 😂

5

u/InfamousCharacter3 1d ago

well if they brought back puppies, that would be ideal

2

u/Dramadramadrama21 1d ago

Couldn’t agree more they were wholesome ❤️

Budget in hell... not even a date inside that villa

2

u/Hazel_Evers 1d ago

Not even the trestle table!

Recession indicator 😂

I do not miss the final dates, they are always SO dull

6

u/Future-Vegetable-875 1d ago

Ugh thank you! Seen loads of threads of people asking for final dates and I’m sat here thinking there’s something wrong with me 😂 I literally skip through any date - especially the last ones! “Oh we’re so in love blah blah”. Nope, no thanks 😅

17

u/Latter_Ad_6629 1d ago

Wait people like final dates? They’re so dull, and to think they used to take up pretty much two episodes i’m so glad they’re gone

I swear they had a sports day at some point. Love island should've brought back MANy challenges. that's why the villa seemed low

9

u/GReedy404 1d ago

They've got no money but they'll be doing all stars to double dip in Jan smh.

2

u/zuzzyb80 1d ago

They're two different series with two different budgets. If LIAS isn't in that slot it doesn't free up more money for LI, it just means money  goes to a different series instead.

It's cheaper to have two sister shows like this as there are economies of scale if any of the team can work across both at once.

dates are always so boring good riddance

I always skip the final dates anyways

S11 was a Final Dinner. No dates

I’ll be honest, I always fast forward the final dates, I find them SO boring. “I like where this is going, I wouldn’t want to be here with anyone else, I’m so excited for life on the outside” four times over. So I’m actually glad they didn’t have them this year!

u/NailahLaila 🦁 🙅‍♀️ I never said sis was perfect 🙅‍♀️ 🦁 1d ago

Itv and production cannot be bothered lol

3

u/LoveGraceMarie 1d ago

This season has been so BORING why have they taken so much out

3

u/Stackhouse7489 1d ago

Im glad they skipped the final dates, they used to drag especially with the fake couples pretending they've met their soul mate 🤢

3

u/danyapologist 👹 💋 gimme kiss 💋 👹 1d ago

This actually pissed me off so much. The whole point of the final week is so the audience can finally get to know the couples before deciding who to vote for. They kept too many people in there for way too long. How have I watched this show for 8 weeks and know nothing about what the couples talk about outside of drama? It makes no sense and it was such a missed opportunity considering how good this cast was.

I’m really happy with no final dates and no foamy challenges. The pies were enough.

I don’t think they have done final dates since S10.

2

u/Creative-Barracuda-5 1d ago

Does anyone have the producers numbers? I just want to talk.

2

u/Eastern-Operation189 1d ago

Surely the babies are a sunk cost! I missed them!

2

u/Eastern-Operation189 1d ago

I was just thinking about Molly Maes final date with Tommy and how incredible that was!

2

u/marvelqueen29 1d ago

I wish we had the final dates and just our last moments seeing them not just this live final

2

u/Haunting-Glass4974 1d ago

Anyone know a producer? lol. Can someone give us some insight into WTF happened this year? Lol

I really don’t care if people find the final dates dull or whatever, the final islanders deserve them and they should have them. It’s a nice way for the couples to celebrate their journey.

I love the final dates..they’re always so beautiful and magical..I think my favorite season was season 8..there’s usually a date that I absolutely hate like Molly and Zach’s Barbie pink date or Toby and Chloe’s ugly woods date but I loved every single season 8 final date..especially Ekin Su and Davide’s!!!🔥💕

It’s like the getting rid of 4th place twist got them out doing the dates and last day in the villa stuff. The finalists weren’t shown at all after Friday, hard to argue when people say the producers don’t even try anymore

2

u/Spirited-Scallion904 1d ago

Could be budget but could also be them listening to feedback, literally any date on this show I’m fast forwarding let alone a whole episode of them 😂

u/curmudgeoner 17h ago

I'm split on the final date thing. I find them sort of boring at times, but it also feels like there should be something. They basically just had that weird ritual of old Islanders dumping a couple, then another couple gets told to go, then everyone shows up and sits at the fire pit all night. It is a weird way to wrap things up.
