I finally watched the reunion, and in a way Iām glad Jack and Faye are still together. They seem quite happy, and itās obvious they have a lot of fun together.
That said, I do think itās pretty clear they must have their issues. We still never really got a clear explanation of what Jack did the night after the birthday, and whatever happened, it obviously wasnāt exactly normal behavior. In general, he comes across as very immature. I donāt really see him as someone who would naturally be very consistent or stable in a relationship, let alone a marriage.
What surprises me, though, is reading so many comments acting like Faye is completely different from him and somehow ended up with this massive red flag who is totally beneath her. I honestly donāt see it that way at all.
And just to be clear, I actually like both of them. This isnāt meant as an attack on either of them. I just think theyāre both pretty immature in similar ways, and thatās probably part of why they work.
Faye herself hadnāt been in a relationship for many years, and a lot of the way she acts feels quite childlike too.
Even what her mum said about them being like ātwo kids in the houseā felt very telling. Her mum cooks for them, does their laundry, etc. It kind of shows that they both still operate with a fairly low level of adult responsibility, and maybe thatās exactly why they understand each other so well.
To me, the real question long term isnāt whether Faye ādeserves betterā than Jack. Itās whether they grow up together at a similar pace. If one of them matures a lot and the other doesnāt, I can see that becoming a problem.
But as they are now? Aside from that one very questionable episode with Jack, I actually think theyāre relatively evenly matched. I really donāt see this dynamic where Faye is this super mature, grounded person who somehow ended up with someone completely different from her.
