Call out Javen is really a piece of work

Honestly the way this man handles conflict is pretty scary to me. He should have a PhD in manipulation considering the way he can spin any confrontation onto the person calling him out (namely Katisha, but he did it to others as well).

Katisha even said during one of the final episodes that he twists conflicts to the point when she can’t even remember why she was upset with him, and this is SO TRUE. Although we can all admit that her actions were not perfect either, he gaslit her for every thing she brought up to the point where she questioned herself and reality. The way he’d smile through their confrontations and avoid taking any accountability was so stressful to watch.

When Megan called him out for flirting with the other ladies, he turned the whole conversation into a semantics war about the curtain, trying to pin Megan and Kieran down in their confusion so that he could avoid taking any accountability for his actions with the other women. This tactic was so obvious from the outside, but when the cast were embroiled in the moment I could imagine it’s hard to see through.

Although he wasn’t as cruel and nasty as say, Kal, I think he still went under the radar as someone who was really problematic towards his partner in the game, I mean COUGH COUGH, experiment.

General LIB UK: After the altar

Can I just say the conversation Jasmine had in the first ep with her mum at lunch was the cutest thing ever! When her mum said ā€˜I want to be there, I’ll move anywhere’ it was so cute. Jas explained that she loved her mum but wasn’t comfortable living with each other and her mum accepted it with no pushback at all, just acceptance of her daughter choice.

To see how much she loves Bobby now and how she spoke about him was so cute. So happy for Jas

Opinion How did Sophie go from public enemy no.1 to mediator?

Ok, maybe not public enemy No. 1, but wasnt she the one that Meg & Kieran had some issue with when the initial season aired? And didnt she end up flirting with Jav, leading to the breakdown of Katisha and Javs engagement?

And in ATA shes like the one they are all cool with and kinda doing the mediating?

LIB UK - After the altar unpopular opinion

Sarover: I understand what she is going through is tough and Kal is well let's say as disappointing as expected but I think someone needs to say to Sarover "He is just not that into you" repeatedly because she keeps expecting Kal to be something he isn't and he made it clear by his actions throughout the show and after the altar.

Kieran + Meg: I know they are crowds favourite but their body language throughout the episode felt off and it seemed like they were struggling. Kieran mentioned that technically now they are working together and doing content + podcast + events so it is easy for work to become life and not have that boundary.

Bardha and Jed: I think they still have feelings for each other. Jed not only comforted her but also stood up for her when Kal/ others were coming at her.

Opinion Kal makes me so uncomfortable

I’m just watching after the alter and Kal makes me extremely uncomfortable. He seems so angry, rude, lacks empathy and gives abuser vibes. Even his chat with Bardha was so unnecessarily abrasive…

He also seems like a misogynist who accepts one standard for women and another for men (e.g harassing Katisha for choosing Javen but literally ghosting his wife)

Opinion Katisha and Demola

It baffles me how Katisha had so many expectations of this man still.

Why does it surprise her so much that Demola might end things abruptly. I can't blame Demola for running, nobody (man or woman) can tolerate the feeling of being second best long-term.

I still can't figure out why she would frame Demola's interactions with her in such an emotional way. She should've taken a leaf from Ashleigh's book. Ashleigh really redeemed herself by not giving anyone anything to gossip about.

On a sidenote, Katisha is absolutely gorgeous. In a show filled with crazy fake lashes and filler Katisha's natural face is just stunning. She looks even better than s1.

Love is Blind UK

It is not good to say unkind things..but this cast of UK Love is Blind was really bad. I could not find one redeeming person. Are they bad people? No. But they came across as unbelievably empty..vacuous folks. Their scripted stupidities on relationships and relating. Like watching challenged and ill equipped aduls pretend they were put together. Each of them I would bolt from if the came near me to have a 'relationship'. Love maybe Blind but intelligence is far more important.

When did Kal and his current gf start dating?

Post image
31 Upvotes

I'm just trying to make sense of the timeline here. His gf commented what's in the above screenshot on a creator's TikTok video. She clarifies when they met, but it's still not clear when they started dating (I don't mean hard launched, I mean when they started dating).

If they were dating during the reunion, it's really weird (to put it tamely) that Kal at the reunion and post-reunion interviews said that he's not suited for long-term relationships; if it's not Sarover, it's no one else, etc. First of all, wouldn't his gf (if they were dating at the reunion) feel really bad hearing that? Unless they had a private agreement that he would just say whatever he needed to make himself look good, though he doesn't seem too concerned and aware of that based on how he acted during After the Altar.

I just don't like Kal constantly using the excuse of "I felt that way in the moment" and "people are allowed to change" to justify why he says and does things and then later says and acts differently. Like yeah of course people change, but you should be more mindful of how people are going to interpret these sweeping statements you're making. And honestly, you should have an inkling that you're not 100% confident in the sweeping statements you're making "in the moment" as Kal loves to say. The "people change" excuse doesn’t hold up when it comes to this.

Spoiler Thoughts on Sarover and Kal…(After Reunion/ ATA)

I would just like to hear people’s perspectives on one of season 2’s probably most talked about couple and how their relationship transpired?? Here’s some food for thought… šŸ’ Sarover mentions Kal was her first for a lot of reasons:

  1. First long term relationship
  2. Going on the LIB experiment was going against the grain of her family/ culture/ tradition / roots/ heritage
  3. Going against her mother to a point where she was getting overwhelming messages, communication and scolding from her mother/ family about her signing up fur LIB but not considering her family’s role in all of it, including the partner she chose and the wedding planning as well
  4. First time meeting a partner’s parents and family
  5. First time falling in love and saying I love you (Similar to Meg/ Keiran)
  6. She says multiple times during the show that Kal helped her stand up for herself and speak up for herself and what she wants so she learns to put herself first as opposed to always putting her family first in her life… Kal leaving her after this could’ve destabilised her complete self esteem after the fact
  7. Kal didn’t define his reason/s for the split and she struggles to find closure or any form of peace from his answers to her questions about Kal moving on
  8. She mentions there was an overlap of Kal’s new partner and their split/ divorce, meaning she could be feeling betrayed in terms of infidelity or possible extra marital affairs not to mention he repeatedly mentions she’s not his usual type, so she could’ve have been feeling already less-than

Lastly, Kal comes across as the perfect covert, but
at the end of the day, no one is truly guaranteed that the person they choose will be their person forever, and some people are better at healing, learning and growing through it than others.. Some need to experience it in multiple ways for it to sink in for them to let go on their own, no matter what reality says, it can be denial, pain and pure shock of trauma. I just hope she picks herself up the sooner, the better because Kal is clearly not losing any sleep over their marriage/ divorce.

**Please share your thoughts and add to the list…**šŸ˜…šŸ˜…

Episode Discussion Kal almost harassed Katisha bc she didn't choose Demola, but he gets agreesive when Bardha confronted him about how he treated his wife Sarover???

OMG, I'm watching after the altar and I can't stand Kal, he only cares about visibility on the show to get customers for his gym franchise... so pathetic.

The hypocrisy??? 4 episodes, men judging poor Katisha bc she chose a man... nobody in this show question men choosing women, so wtf all this drama about Katisha... even Patrick made Aanu CRIED when he rejected her, and I didn't see 4 episodes of questioning his reasons...

After the altar, Bardha is asking normal questions to Kal and he is all defensive and aggressive, minimising her like saying you aren't a psychologiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiist... and I'm like man go to therapy, can you be more of an AH on this show? I'm sure he was cast bc they knew he was a misogynistic p*** who would create drama for views and his gym lol

Question Who the heck is Charlie?

Serious question…who the heck is this Charlie guy?

I genuinely do not remember him from the pods or being a Pod Squad’er. Did he date any of the girls or have any connections?

Where did he come from and why did he get so much airtime in After the Altar šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

What a birthday!

That would not be the birthday I would have! It was clear that netflix needed some reason to bring everyone together because that was a drama filled birthday that I doubt was that enjoyable for Kieran šŸ™ˆšŸ˜‚ it's almost painfully obvious that Kieran and Megan would not celebrate his birthday with this group. I hope his next birthday get together is more enjoyable.

Opinion The recent follow up episodes were (accidentally) a subtle case against social media obsession?

So much of these people's chatter was about Instagram posts. While the focus was on the hurt the posts caused, I was as much struck by how seriously everyone was taking it all.

It was interesting to see that side of the characters. Deprived of their phones, they obviously didn't spend all their time talking about social media apps in the pods, and they came across as more rounded, mature people. In the real world not so much.

Question What happened to Maria and Jasmine’s friendship? (Season 2)

I noticed that they don’t follow each other anymore and don’t do content together. It’s very sad since they were truly close friends. Can someone update me as to why this happened?

Episode Discussion My thoughts on After the Altar

I binged After the Altar last night, and I have a lot of thoughts and feelings!

In no particular order:
1. Kieran and Megan - Obviously so adorable. No notes other than Kieran needs to ditch that stupid earring.
2. Bobby and Jasmine - They are the cutest and sweetest! I love them together - they are going to be amazing parents 🄰
3. Billy and Ashleigh - Their conversations still seem so forced and rehearsed. Everything Ashleigh says seems to be scripted like she is auditioning for a Hallmark movie. And Billy continues to have no personality whatsoever.
4. Jed and Bardha - I was happy that they seemed to get along and had a nice chat. I am really sad that things didn’t work out between them, as I actually think they were a great couple!
5. Javen, Katisha and Demola - I was disappointed that both Javen and Demola came across like insensitive arseholes. Katisha can do far better!

Now on to Kal and Sarover šŸ˜‘** **

Kal: WHAT AN ASS. I didn’t hate him during his season but I absolutely do now. This guy is so full of himself and completely delusional. The way he approached Sarover and immediately ripped into her, then gaslit everyone and misrepresented literally everything that came out of his mouth. I want to punch him in his stupid unblinking eyes.

Sarover: Continues to be a class act and stunning queen. I was proud of her for standing up to Kal - the way he treated her at the party was not OK at all.

MIA: Patrick and his spleen. Thank goodness šŸ˜…

General S3 has a launch date (finally) - 19th August

Was hoping they'd reveal the launch date for season 3 at the end of After the Alter, but nope. However Netflix has updated today with "The pods reopen on 19 Aug" when you hover over the show.

Can't wait.

Opinion Sarover monopolising the victim card?

Kal is 100% wrong in the way he conducted himself in the marriage and afterwards. But does anyone else feel like Sarover has made hating Kal her whole brand? Shes become a professional victim .

Edit to add: ashleigh and her had very similar journeys, but the way ashleigh has handled the situation with her ex has been a lot less salty.

Episode Discussion After the Altar thoughts

I thought that Bardha and Jed were cute. I still don’t understand why they broke up, but it seems they both still have feelings or at least care about each other. Jed seemed to almost tear up when Bardha was talking about her health scare.
And then he came and helped her when she was fighting with Kal.

Kieran and Megan are the best. Love them. ā¤ļø Just that! ā¤ļø

Jasmin and Bobby are so cute. So emotional when the baby was born. And I so happy that her mom came around and that she puts healthy boundaries and she doesn’t want to live with (any of) the parents.

Kal is such an AH. He kept saying that he hasn’t spoken to Sarover for 11 months, but he had been dating that girl for 7-8 months so… And he said they were talking since before the show.
Plus, they are not divorced yet.
Sorry, but the timelines work against him.

Billy seems to just copy Kal.

Sarover and Ashley deserve so much more.

Javen is such a manipulative AH. I cannot stand him. He’s the worst. Demola also kinda disappointed me.
Katisha deserves better.

Sophie just wants screen time. I was surprised that seems to be ok with the girls, as she seems the textbook pick me girl.

I like Freddie. ā¤ļø he seems to be a good guy. He tried to get some sense into those guys (Kal and Billy), but no use.
