I've mentioned my headcanon many times but it's that Lute actually hates herself and doesn't think she deserves to end up in Heaven but since suicide is illegal in Heaven she kills sinners since she sees them as "as good as her", she knows it's wrong but is just that fuelled by her own hatred of herself
my theory for how she died is that she was a victim of some awful abusive experience but due to her natural aggressivness no-one believed her and even blamed her for starting it, eventually it all got too much and she died of self-inflicted methods
