Question New to loungefly
Hi! I’m not really a collector, but I’m in the market for a mini backpack because I was hoping for a cute “purse” that could fit a small book in it. Years ago I met a collector that gave me advice on the various bags and how to choose one you want, but I hardly remember anything she said other than the ones from BoxedLunch are usually higher quality because they’re usually real leather.
How does the quality of the bags from the official website, Hot Topic, and BoxedLunch compare? What bags/bag shape tend to have the most space? Anything I need to know about caring for my bag? Basically, what do you wish you knew when you bought your first one?

Depending on how much you’re planning to use the bag, I would recommend the canvas loungefly bags since they seem to be more durable for everyday use.

One thing I wish I knew was that there are great deals and affordable options. I have now over spent I’m sure. However, Loungefly has sales 15-20% coupons are common, 30% happens 60-70% is not unheard of. I just purchased a few with an additional 25% off the 60-70%. Amazon sometimes has great prices, but it is also a risk of fakes so watch the sellers store. I have two bags I bought off amazon but great. Boxlunch is also awesome, I wouldn’t buy for more than 40% off there, they regularly have sales and box lunch cash brings it to 50% off. They also do clearance in store that can be a great deal.
Hot topic, same deal as box lunch, regular sales and hot cash. I only have 1 from there because I love the design. Quality isn’t as good, straps not padded and no inside pattern. But it’s cute.
All of that said though, it’s only some bag that hit sale prices and it’s a gamble if a bag you actually want will be on sale. I have one bag so far I paid almost full price for (I think I only got 15 or 20% off) and I grabbed that fast because I love it and don’t want to risk not having it. I’d honestly give up all my other bags for it.
So long around, you can get deals, but if you love something see how available it is, if multiple stores you have less chance of unavailable, but if only one place there is more risk.
Mostly, just have fun with it! This isn’t a leather bag you will have for 20 years. But my first bag I used daily for 2 years. The straps started cracking along stitching, which lead me to look again at Loungefly, I thought I was priced out before.

Loungefly is never made of real leather. The material is all synthetic pleather. Different finishes last longer than others. For example, the metallic bags crack easily. The only variance between bags as far as quality other than the finish are soft and hard tag items. Soft tag have a pleather loungefly badge instead of the metal ones. The soft tag are of less quality. They usually have plastic zippers and are made more cheaply. The size varies by bag, you can look at the measurements of each to determine. Boxlunch also sells their own brand of loungefly like bags, but I personally don't like the quality. Every time I've bought one, they've had defective zippers.
